Please help! Advice on brother for Iris and Eloise

We recently welcomed our third child, a little boy and brother for our two girls Iris and Eloise.

We still haven’t been able to settle on a name. I have loved the name Silas for a long time. It was our original boy name. I want to use it, but am worried about it being too close to Iris.

I feel like I have scoured the internet looking for something I like just as much, without any luck.

Would welcome any thoughts on using Silas or other name suggestions, in case there is some stone we’ve left unturned.

We tend to like vintage names that are uncommon but familiar, easy to pronounce and that can’t be easily shortened or nicknamed.

If it’s helpful, some girl names we like and may have used had this baby been a girl include Ada, Willa, Hadley and Faye.

I do think Silas and Iris are a bit close. How about Sylvan which shares the same meaning (forest)?

While I do see how Silas and Iris sound a bit similar, I don’t think it’s so bad that you shouldn’t use Silas! But if you want to consider more options, maybe:

August
Arthur
Basil
Felix
George
Hugo
Jasper
Laurence / Lawrence
Louis
Leon
Oscar
Otis
Percy

[name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] are a tad close for me. Not unusable but I do think they’d get muddled sometimes.

A few ideas:

[name_m]Sylvan[/name_m]
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u]
[name_m]Wilbur[/name_m]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_u]Seth[/name_u]
[name_u]Forest[/name_u]
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m]
[name_m]Otis[/name_m]
[name_m]Josiah[/name_m]
[name_u]Niall[/name_u]
[name_u]Hayes[/name_u]

[name_m]Silas[/name_m] is quite similar to [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. I think just enough to be confusing.

I love the flow of vowels with your daughters names. What about another vowel name to round it out?

[name_u]Asa[/name_u]
[name_u]Archer[/name_u]
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]
[name_u]Arthur[/name_u]
[name_m]Abel[/name_m]
[name_m]Alistair[/name_m]
[name_m]Enzo[/name_m]
[name_m]Otto[/name_m]

if vowels don’t matter maybe one of these:
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u]
[name_u]Forest[/name_u] (Silas is Latin for Forest)
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_m]Roman[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]

Thank you everyone for your comments and feedback. Unfortunately we’re still struggling with whether [name_m]Silas[/name_m] is a good choice for us. Wondering thoughts on how [name_m]Jobe[/name_m] might fit with our sibling set?

Jobe feels different stylistically from Iris & Eloise but I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. It’s got a cool distinct sound & I like how it shares something with each of yo ur other kids’ names — it’s four letters like Iris and it ends in a vowel like Eloise! I love little connections like that, even if they aren’t intentional
