Originally, my husband and I liked the names [name]Amelia[/name], [name]Molly[/name] & [name]Charlotte[/name]. After reading all the posts, it looks like these names (particularly [name]Amelia[/name] & [name]Charlotte[/name]) are getting popular. So, we’ve decided to use [name]Amelie[/name] instead. I know after reading all the books, that we don’t need to decide on all our names now, but I would love some suggestions on pretty names that go with [name]Amelie[/name]. I really like [name]Eloise[/name] but my husband’s not so keen. For me [name]Eloise[/name] combines [name]Ella[/name] (which was previously a favourite until it got so popular) and my middle name [name]Louise[/name]. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I think [name]Amelie[/name] is a beautiful name”great choice! I’m not sure [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Eloise[/name] has the best flow, though (a little vowel-heavy). Have you thought about [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]?
Sorry, [name]Eloise[/name] was for another daughter, not as a middle name. [name]Amelie[/name]'s middle name will be [name]Violet[/name] (it is a family name). But thanks for your suggestions.
[name]Amelie[/name] [name]Violet[/name] is very pretty!
Other [name]Ella[/name]/[name]Bella[/name] names you might like : (I’ve starred the ones which are less popular)
[name]Isabel[/name]
[name]Isabella[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Mirabelle[/name]/a*
Arabellla*
[name]Giselle[/name]*
[name]Bellamy[/name]*
[name]Eleanor/name
[name]Elodie[/name]*
I think [name]Eloise[/name] is lovely, both on its own, with [name]Amelie[/name] and for the meaning, but if your husband can’t be won round, you could always use another lou name, or use [name]Louise[/name]/a as a middle.
Thanks for your suggestions. I came across the name [name]Lilou[/name] on these message boards and happened to let it slip to my husband. I thought he would hate it, but it turns out, he actually really likes it. What do you think? Is it too weird? And do you think it sounds okay with [name]Amelie[/name]? Any middle name suggestions for [name]Lilou[/name]? Thanks.
[name]Even[/name] though it’s popular in [name]France[/name], it’s still a made-up name. It also sounds very cutesy and really won’t age well. [name]Amelie[/name] is much more elegant and classic sounding, so they don’t go well together for me at all. What about [name]Lillian[/name] or [name]Louisa[/name] nn [name]Lilou[/name]?
I love the name [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Violet[/name]! [name]How[/name] about this - [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] would be perfect for her sister!
Okay, we have both decided we love [name]Amelie[/name] & [name]Lilou[/name]. We want to use two middle names (as I have two, it is normal where I am from even though we live in the US now). What do you think of:
I think both combos are very cute! While I do like [name]Lilou[/name] I can see the other posters point that it may be a bit of a trendy name compared to the classic [name]Amelie[/name]. Does this bother you? Are you considering a longer name like [name]Louisa[/name] with the nickname [name]Lilou[/name]? [name]Just[/name] wondering!
Also, do you have any other family names you like because it may be nice for both daughters to have a family name in the middle?
[name]Both[/name] names are lovely! I especially like [name]Cecilia[/name] to ground the delicate, whimsical [name]Lilou[/name]. But [name]Amelie[/name] gets both the family names, and [name]Lilou[/name] gets none! I can see why you would do this, as you can’t sure whether you will ever have a second girl so want to honour everyone with your first, but I think it is important that both girls get family names (or neither do). Are there any other family names which you like and could use for [name]Lilou[/name], but wouldn’t mind so much if you didn’t get to use them?
[name]Just[/name] to plug a combo I thought of - [name]Lilou[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Anne[/name]? [name]Beatrix[/name] sounds wonderful, and the strong B and X sounds ground [name]Lilou[/name], and [name]Anne[/name] is such a classic that it lends the whole combination real substance.
I do also see the point about [name]Amelie[/name] being a classic name and [name]Lilou[/name] being a new “made up” name. However, with the “made up” thing doesn’t bother me because aren’t all names made up at some stage?
I don’t think I could convince my husband to use [name]Louisa[/name]. If he didn’t like [name]Eloise[/name], I can’t see him going for [name]Louisa[/name].
And yes, I want to use both names on the first daughter in case I don’t have a second one. The female family names I could use are [name]Ann[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Jane[/name], [name]Barbara[/name] (definitely not). So I could stick [name]Jane[/name] in there but that would mean one Grandma would get her whole name ([name]Violet[/name] [name]Jane[/name]) and the other one ([name]Barbara[/name]) wouldn’t get any. I would like to use family names but I just couldn’t bring myself to use [name]Barbara[/name] for a little girl.
So maybe I could have [name]Lilou[/name] Ceclia [name]Jane[/name]. I will think about it. Thanks for your comments.
Also, while I love some of your suggestions ([name]Beatrix[/name] for example) it seems to be a little harder to sell my husband on them. I really think a lot of the suggestions are great, but at the end of the day, he needs to be happy too and he’s not quite as open minded as I am when it comes to baby names. But anyway, I wanted to say thank you for all the suggestions. Girl number two is still a couple years away, so maybe we’ll change our minds by then anyway.
I love these! However, [name]Anne[/name] and [name]Grace[/name] both mean “grace”, so it’s either cute or cutesy, depending on your view, so I prefer [name]Lilou[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. A lot of people probably don’t know the meaning of [name]Anne[/name], though, so it doesn’t really matter…
[name]How[/name] about using one name you like ([name]Molly[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Eloise[/name], [name]Ella[/name], [name]Cecilia[/name], or [name]Grace[/name]) for one of their middle names, and a family name ([name]Violet[/name], [name]Anne[/name], or [name]Jane[/name]) as the other. For example:
