Please help find a name to go with older brother Abe!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all, I’m really struggling with this one. We just found out we’re having a second boy and I’m a little worried about choosing a name. Our first son’s name is [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], and we want to make sure we choose a name that can stand alongside this name. We’d like to go with something classic and biblical but don’t like going with something popular (which is how we chose [name_m]Abe[/name_m]!). I keep coming back to [name_m]Peter[/name_m], but for some reason I’m hesitant about it. I’m also having a hard time choosing a potential middle name if we went with [name_m]Peter[/name_m]. Our last name is [name_m]Craig[/name_m] which I feel like makes it a bit more difficult.

Any suggestions on names… or middle names for [name_m]Peter[/name_m]?

Thanks everyone!!

I’ve always liked the name [name_m]Zebulon[/name_m] nn [name_m]Zeb[/name_m]. I think [name_m]Zeb[/name_m] and [name_m]Abe[/name_m] sound cute together. However, I do love [name_m]Peter[/name_m] as well.

[name_m]Abraham[/name_m] & [name_m]Soloman[/name_m]? [name_m]Abe[/name_m] and [name_m]Sol[/name_m]…sound great together!

[name_m]Peter[/name_m] is a great name too. [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]. [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m]. [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Isaac[/name_m].

[name_m]Abraham[/name_m] and [name_u]August[/name_u]/[name_m]Augustus[/name_m]. [name_m]Abe[/name_m] and [name_u]Gus[/name_u]. Very cute together too!

Thanks for your responses ladies!! I really appreciate it.

I like the sound of [name_m]Zeb[/name_m] but one of my dog’s names is [name_m]Zeke[/name_m] (haha) so I think that’s too similar sounding.

I like [name_m]Phillip[/name_m]… might do some thinking on that.

I love names like [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m], [name_m]Jacob[/name_m], [name_m]Luke[/name_m] ---- but I feel like they are so popular right now and I’d like to avoid that if possible.

I like the suggestion of [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]/[name_m]Joseph[/name_m] as middle names for [name_m]Peter[/name_m] but for some reason I feel like they don’t sound as strong as [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]? If that makes sense. For that reason I like the thought of [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m], I feel like it brings it closer to the strength of [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]. Not sure I love [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] as a FN even though I do agree [name_m]Abe[/name_m] & [name_m]Sol[/name_m] sounds great together. [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] and [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] as FN’s together might be TOO biblical?? Haha!! I don’t know if I’m making any sense.

Also going to think about [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m], as [name_m]Charles[/name_m] is my husband’s name.

Thanks again everyone!

[name_m]Peter[/name_m] is a nice biblical name but it sounds a bit odd to me with [name_m]Abraham[/name_m].

Here are my suggestions…
[name_m]Timothy[/name_m]
[name_m]Stephen[/name_m]
[name_u]Noah[/name_u]
[name_m]David[/name_m]
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m]
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaiah[/name_m]
[name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m]
[name_m]Jonah[/name_m]
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m]
[name_m]John[/name_m]
[name_m]Matthew[/name_m]
[name_m]Mark[/name_m]
[name_m]Luke[/name_m]
[name_m]Zechariah[/name_m]
[name_m]Judah[/name_m]
[name_m]Moses[/name_m]
[name_m]Jacob[/name_m]
[name_u]Michael[/name_u]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]

I think [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] is a good choice. I was going to suggest [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m], too bad about your dog haha.

[name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_m]Joel[/name_m]
[name_m]Matthias[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Silas[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]

I like [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]. We like [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] too, but worry about the [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_m]Craig[/name_m] associations…

Can I ask what sounds weird about [name_m]Abe[/name_m] with peter?

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Jedidiah[/name_m]?

[name_m]Abe[/name_m] & [name_m]Jed[/name_m] are darling together.

[name_m]Jed[/name_m]… I like that… let me think about that one!! Thanks for the input!

I’m a big fan of the underused Shadrach. [name_m]Abe[/name_m] and [name_m]Shad[/name_m] sound pretty cool. I feel like [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] and [name_m]Peter[/name_m] seem a bit odd together, but I’m not sure why. Maybe the grandeur of [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] makes [name_m]Peter[/name_m] sound underwhelming? Although [name_m]Abe[/name_m] and [name_m]Pete[/name_m] make for a friendly sounding pair of brothers. [name_m]Will[/name_m] you use those nicknames?

Yes my son goes by [name_m]Abe[/name_m] 95% of the time. A few family members call him [name_m]Bram[/name_m].
You’re the second person to mention [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] and [name_m]Peter[/name_m] not sounding the best together, which surprises me a little. I never thought they sounded odd as a pair, but I get what you’re saying about the grandeur or strength of [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] next to [name_m]Peter[/name_m]. I guess in my head it worked because [name_m]Abe[/name_m] would be the oldest? I guess I want them to sound good together but also it’s not my absolute top priority. I want to choose an excellent stand alone name for our second, as well. This might not make any sense or may sound silly - but I also don’t want the names to be too in your face biblical as a pair… which is why I wouldn’t choose [name_u]Noah[/name_u] or [name_m]Moses[/name_m].

Hello

First of all, I love the name [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] and [name_m]Abe[/name_m] is so cute! You set the bar really high! So let’s think about some traditional/ biblical names for your new bundle of joy.

I really like the name of [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] [name_m]Craig[/name_m], I’ve seen this done before, but it’s certainly an acquired taste of having 2 children with the same name, so if you did [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] [name_m]Craig[/name_m] you could do [name_m]Caleb[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Craig[/name_m] and call him CJ? [name_m]Just[/name_m] an idea. I think [name_m]Abe[/name_m] and CJ could be cute together!

I also really like [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] and think that [name_m]Sol[/name_m] and [name_m]Abe[/name_m] are cute because they’re 1 syllable and strong on their own, and even more powerful in their full form. For [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] some middle names could be:
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m] [name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_m]Craig[/name_m]
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m] [name_m]Levi[/name_m] [name_m]Craig[/name_m].

Some other first name ideas I have are:
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] - super cute and Biblical too, I think would go really well with [name_m]Abe[/name_m]!
[name_m]Ephraim[/name_m]
[name_m]Thaddeus[/name_m] - it means “the gift of God” and I think [name_m]Abe[/name_m] and [name_m]Thad[/name_m] could be super cute!

I like [name_m]Peter[/name_m] too! At the end of the day it is whatever you and your family are most comfortable with and feel like best suits your family. When you hear the right name, you will know it! Good luck and happy naming!

[name_u]Ashley[/name_u], thanks for such a thoughtful response!
[name_m]Caleb[/name_m] is a nice sounding name but doesn’t ring as the “right” name for us.
I will think about [name_m]Thad[/name_m] and [name_m]Gideon[/name_m].
We keep coming back to [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] as a MN for [name_m]Peter[/name_m], but I know it works well as a first name too. Hear me out - do [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] and [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] together sound a bit too in your face biblical? Does that make sense?

I know exactly what you mean by “too in your face biblical”! Hmm… that’s a tough one. [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] and [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] on their own are biblical but at the same time not overtly so, if you know what I mean? [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] and [name_m]Solomon[/name_m] together on the other hand I think are overtly biblical. But I don’t think that’s a bad thing at all! While the names are clearly biblical, I don’t think that it is too in your face, I actually think the theme is cute and unites the boys! While it is biblical, I do not think that the two names together are too biblical. Hopefully I’m making sense!

I like this suggestion. It sounds so cool with together.

@ashleycookbert
Thank you again, I really appreciate your input!

You come back to [name_m]Peter[/name_m] for a reason I believe. It’s perhaps meant to be. It sounds lovely with [name_m]Abraham[/name_m]! If you always call him [name_m]Abe[/name_m] perhaps you could find a one syllable Biblical full name ([name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_u]Jude[/name_u] for example) or nick name ([name_m]Pete[/name_m]).

@nameobsessed77
Thank you, I really appreciate that. I keep coming back to [name_m]Peter[/name_m] and maybe you’re right. As of right now, I really like [name_m]John[/name_m] as a middle name and my husband prefers [name_m]Solomon[/name_m].

I think [name_m]Benaiah[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] sounds strong like your older sons name. I don’t know if it falls into the overtly biblical category for you, but I feel like the friendly nickname [name_m]Ben[/name_m] gives it a nice charm.
