Please help me choose our first child’s (a girl) first name. Our last name is [name]Rush[/name]. We will be calling them by the full first name an not shortening them. Thanks!!!
I’m always a fan of [name]Catherine[/name] (though I prefer [name]Katherine[/name]), [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Lorelei[/name]! I’m not a fan of [name]Rory[/name]… It’s far too R-heavy with your surname. In my opinion, [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Rush[/name] is the best. [name]May[/name] I also suggest [name]Anastasia[/name], [name]Veronica[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name]?
Will baby girl have a middle name? That would also play a factor into what her first name would be. Or will you be picking a middle name to go with the first?
With my oldest 2, we picked a middle that went with the first. With my 3rd, both names were picked together. With my hypothetical future daughter, we picked the middle and picking a first to go with that.
Anyhow… I like all those names besides Rory. I am an Elizabeth and my parents didn’t want to shorten my name either, but everyone calls me Liz or Lizzy anyway.
[name]Lorelai[/name] is the standout; [name]Lorelai[/name] [name]Rush[/name] is absolutely gorgeous. [name]Rory[/name] is an outlier, totally different stylistically from the rest of the names on this list, and [name]Rory[/name] [name]Rush[/name] is way too harsh and R-heavy to my ears.
I think [name]Lorelei[/name] is the one you should go for , it sounds pretty, and kinda awesome too. Like she could be a business ceo or a movie star . pretty much works for anything. I think it stands out as the right one for sure x Good luck…
Out of your names, I really like [name]Lorelai[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name]. Definitely not [name]Rory[/name] - I’m all for alliteration and don’t mind the name [name]Rory[/name], but [name]Rory[/name] [name]Rush[/name] is actually pretty hard to say.
[name]Katherine[/name] (I prefer this spelling) [name]Rush[/name], [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Rush[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Rush[/name] would be my picks.
Definitely [name]Lorelai[/name], [name]Lorelai[/name] [name]Rush[/name] sound amazing! [name]Rory[/name] doesn’t work well with the surname and the other names I like, but they’re not as magical as [name]Lorelai[/name].
I really like [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Caroline[/name], and [name]Elizabeth[/name]. However, [name]Catherine[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] have so many adorable nicknames I think people would be hard pressed not to use them. If you really do not want to use a nickname, I think [name]Caroline[/name] is the best choice. [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Rush[/name] is beautiful.
Personally I would not go with [name]Elizabeth[/name] if you don’t want to use nicknames. My niece is [name]Elizabeth[/name] and her parents were adamant that they would not be shortening it. But she at age 10 she gets [name]Lizbeth[/name], Liddy-[name]Beth[/name], [name]Liz[/name], [name]Lilly[/name], [name]Lilabet[/name], etc from family and friends. She chose [name]Lilly[/name] as a nickname for school as otherwise she was getting [name]Lizzy[/name] which she doesn’t like. It’s a name that is made for shortening!
On the other hand if you are not particularly against nicknames but just not planning on shortening it yourself, then any of the above are gorgeous (have to note a personal preference for [name]Lorelei[/name] which is adorable and one that has been vetoed by my hubby so I’m happy to see such a lovely name being used by others
If you are not wanting to shorten/nickname my choice would be first [name]Caroline[/name], then [name]Lorelei[/name], and third [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I know one adult [name]Elizabeth[/name] that actually goes by [name]Elizabeth[/name]. She is an sweet and lovely person so that just adds to the name for me. Unfortunately, 99 out of 100 times it does seem to be shortened. I personally love the nn [name]Libby[/name].
[name]Lorelei[/name] would be my first choice and [name]Caroline[/name] my second choice. [name]Rory[/name] is too harsh with you last name and the others are likely to be shortened.
