Please help me finalize a middle name for my Stella.

I am due in about 10 weeks and we’ve decided to name our daughter [name]Stella[/name]. We love the name and have no issues with it whatsoever. The problem is the middle name… My other DD is [name]Sophie[/name] [name]Esperanza[/name] and I love her name. I care about the meaning of names and if I don’t like the meaning, I probably won’t choose the name. We had difficultly picking a middle name for [name]Sophie[/name] as well and decided on [name]Esperanza[/name] after we had some particularly scary medical issues during the pregnancy and a name meaning “hope” seemed appropriate.

For [name]Stella[/name], we’ve been pretty sure we would use [name]Josephine[/name]. Though not a Spanish name (and I like Spanish names to reflect DHs side of the family), it is a reference to my husband’s middle name [name]Jose[/name]. And I think [name]Stella[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is a very pretty name BUT. BUT I am clearly not satisfied as I am still looking…

[name]Stella[/name] was an unexpected pregnancy as we weren’t even sure if I’d be able to conceive since we had a hard time the first time. We also weren’t sure if we were going to try again because of the problems I had while pregnant with [name]Sophie[/name]. But we just decided to go on faith to see what would happen, and - voila - baby! Yes, “[name]Faith[/name]” may seem like an obvious choice, but DH doesn’t like that name. And [name]Josephine[/name] isn’t a bad fit with the “God will add” meaning. I really like the idea of [name]Beatriz[/name], but DH isn’t in love with it.

Would you share any ideas that come to your brilliant, naming minds? This post is my last attempt at going with a different middle name, so I am putting a lot of weight on your suggestions!

Thank you so much…

I’ve put together two lists; one with spanish middle names and one regular. [name]Hope[/name] I can help!

[name]Stella[/name] Mahogony
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Mali[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Marisol[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Martes[/name]

I’m sorry, I don’t have time to complete the lists, but what I was doing was going on NameBerry search and looking up Spanish girls names, so you could do that, to.

What about [name]Stella[/name] [name]Viviana[/name]?

Okay I’ve got a bit more time now, so I was thinking about these names:

[name]Stella[/name] [name]Gizelle[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Michaela[/name]

I like [name]Stella[/name] [name]Collette[/name] -removing the second A provides a better flow in my opionion. I also like [name]Stella[/name] [name]Camille[/name].

I love [name]Stella[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]!

But, what about a name meaning “gift”?

[name]Stella[/name] [name]Doreen[/name] - Irish - “gift” [But, [name]Tori[/name] Spelling used this name!]
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Dorotea[/name] - Spanish - “gift of God”
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Dorothy[/name] - Greek - “gift of God”
[name]Stella[/name] Keona - Hawaiian - “God’s gracious gift”
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Matia[/name] - Spanish - “gift of God”

[name]Stella[/name] Nomatha - [name]African[/name] - “big surprise” [Seems fitting!]

Why go past [name]Stella[/name] [name]Josefina[/name]? It would seem like the logical choice.

I thought [name]Stella[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] was wonderful! However, I love [name]Rollo[/name]'s suggestion of [name]Stella[/name] [name]Josefina[/name]!! It is the Spanish version of the name that honors your husband!

[name]Stella[/name] [name]Ines[/name] is absolutely adorable.

i absolutely love stella josephine!!

Thank you all so much for your input and for indulging me and my hormones!

My DH thinks that [name]Josephine[/name] is “prettier” than [name]Josefina[/name], and since it’s his namesake (and Spanish is his first language) I may just let him have the final word there. You are right - they are both pretty!

Thank you!

I love them both!

Good luck!
