Please help me narrow down our girl names list!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there, everyone! We just found out yesterday that our first baby (due in [name_u]Jan[/name_u]) is going to be a girl! We’re so excited, but I feel a little overwhelmed with name options. I’d love any feedback.

Our last name is similar to McKeely, which sounds almost old timey or old [name_u]West[/name_u], so I feel like something short and feisty might back the best.

Here are my thoughts so far:

[name_f]Tess[/name_f]*
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]*
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]*
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]*

*My current faves.

I know [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] (we’d pronounce Lie-ra) isn’t much like the other names and I’m not sure how well it would fit with our last name, but I do like it, so it’s still technically in our faves list.

Thanks so much!

My favorites are [name_f]Tess[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] the best with McKeely

[name_f]Tess[/name_f]: Okay, but a little insubstantial. Seems too much like just a nickname, imo.
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]: [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is such a pretty name. One of my favourites from your list.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]: [name_f]Rose[/name_f] McKeely (even though your last name is only similar, I’m still using this as my basis) is a name I could really see on somebody. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is so underrated as a first name.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]: I think [name_f]Em[/name_f]-muh-line McKeely sounds cute, but [name_f]Em[/name_f]-muh-leen McKeely has the ‘ee’ sound too close together.
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]: Not my favourite name, and I don’t see it working for a young girl. If it’s an honour name, I’d use it as a middle maybe.
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]: A little too cutesy for me. I can’t imagine an adult woman named [name_f]Poppy[/name_f].
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]: [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is alright. I think it’s moving up in the popularity charts though, so if you’re sensitive to that type of thing, that could be a problem.
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]: I love [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]! I think it sounds just fine next to your last name.

I think Tess McKeely and Eliza McKeely sound wonderful! My favorite by far.

I like the sound of [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] McKeeley honestly.

I like [name_f]Tess[/name_f], [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Tess[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]. All very beautiful and spunky. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] ending in -y might not sound as great with your last name though so I’d probably scratch it out. Of the remaining three, here’s how I’d rank them from favorite to lesser favorite:

  1. [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]
  2. [name_f]Tess[/name_f]
  3. [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]

[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] ([name_f]Em[/name_f]-Muh-line) Mckeely sounds great to me

[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] McKeely is my favourite- it definitely has that slightly fiesty Western novel feel to it. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] McKeely is lovely too.

[name_f]Tess[/name_f]: I am probably the only one who thinks this but I see it more as a nickname for [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] or [name_f]Theresa[/name_f]. I just don’t feel like it can stand on its own, however, it is a lovely name
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]: really like this name
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]: This is probably my favourite name from your list and it goes really well with your surname as well
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]: I am unsure as to how you would be pronouncing this name. I personally prefer the Emm-uh-leen way of saying it which I don’t feel goes that well with your surname
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]: Its not my favourite name in the world but it certainly sounds good with your surname
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]: absolutely adore this name but Im not too sure about the same ending that it has with McKeely
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]: beautiful name!
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]: my second favourite from your list after [name_f]Rose[/name_f]

I like:
[name_f]Eliza/name_f
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]

I neither like nor dislike:
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]

I dislike:
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]

My favourite combination would be [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Eliza[/name_f].

I am on board with [name_f]Tess[/name_f] McKeely! If you’re going for old west, she sure sounds like a lady with a shotgun and a cowboy hat!

[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] McKeely is awesome. Very cool name

[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] McKeely is great too. [name_m]Just[/name_m] [name_f]Tess[/name_f] feels a bit slim beside McKeely.

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] are my favorites. I’ve been living [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] lately!

I love
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
and [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] with your last name.

The only name that I think doesn’t work well with your surname is [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. My favorites from your list are [name_f]Tess[/name_f] and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]. [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] get honorable mention

My favorites on your list are [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Tess[/name_f], and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. If you want something spunky and feisty but still sweet and feminine I think these are your best options. I think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] probably goes best with your last name, but I have a major soft spot for [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and I think it would would be adorable.

I like [name_f]Tess[/name_f] from your list and think [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] could work as well.

[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]!!!

I actually really love [name_f]Tess[/name_f] Mckeely. It really makes me think of an old western.
