[name]Saxon[/name]. I knew an adult [name]Saxon[/name] and he wore it very handsomely.

I just think [name]Saxon[/name] might be open to a bit of ridicule. He’ll get [name]Sax[/name] for a nickname no doubt…say it and it can sound like Sex. Kids can be ruthless with teasing, sorry to say.

[name]Arlo[/name] is unique, strong, but cute for a little boy. I know an [name]Arlo[/name] and I just think it’s a nicer choice.

I think [name]Arlo[/name] is a solid name choice, with a bit of a southern US vibe going on. It feels vintage, yet completely modern (I think of it similarly to a lot of other ending in ‘o’ names, like [name]Milo[/name], [name]Hugo[/name], etc). [name]Saxon[/name], I don’t like at all. Seems like naming a kid [name]German[/name] or Scottish or something like that, it’s so connected to the Saxons in my mind (maybe this association is so strong for me because I teach British history). Plus, the NN [name]Sax[/name] is strange.

Can’t say i’m a fan of either to be honest, but I dislike [name]Arlo[/name] less of the two

[name]Do[/name] you have a middle name picked?

[name]Arlo[/name], without a doubt.

Neither of them are names I would use, but [name]Saxon[/name] is the one I would choose out of the two.

[name]Arlo[/name], for sure!! Super cute, can grow from baby into adulthood with no problems. I really like this name.

[name]Saxon[/name] makes me think, ‘captain of the jocks.’ I have very strong imagery associated with this name, and that can be good or bad. Good, if that’s what you are going for, bad if the kid will spend his whole life trying to shake it.

Good luck!

[name]Arlo[/name] is one of my favorite names so I would go with that.

I like [name]Saxon[/name], despite what kids may/may not turn it into…kids can be cruel with just about anything. If you don’t give him a nickname, I think [name]Saxon[/name] would be great. I’m afraid I’m not a big fan of [name]Arlo[/name].

Honestly, I think it depends on if someone has known a person with this name, or not, and whether they were impressed/had a favorable impression, or not. Your kid could be the one that changes the name for someone else (positively).

I really like [name]Saxon[/name], but I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Arlo[/name]

I prefer [name]Arlo[/name] because I just think of Anglo-[name]Saxon[/name] when I hear [name]Saxon[/name].

That’s what I thought aswell, when he suggested it, but he doesn’t see it as an issue…maybe because he is English and it’s part of their history…

My first pick was [name]Enzo[/name], however he put a veto on that as he said everyone would automatically think we had named him after [name]Enzo[/name] Ferrari, the founder of Ferrari (I hadn’t even heard of him before…maybe it is a guy thing :-))

[name]Do[/name] you really think it matters if names have strong connections??

I think [name]Saxon[/name] is great!

I’ve had a few people say that [name]Sax[/name] would be an adorable nickname, but hadn’t really thought of the whole “sex” connotations until it was pointed out on this thread.
I know kids will come up with crazy nicknames no matter what, but do you think this would just be encouraging the inevitable??

[name]Saxon[/name]. I think it will age much better. It has a less cutesy vibe.

I love [name]Arlo[/name]. I don’t really care for [name]Saxon[/name] for some reason. I think it’s kind of cool, but I could also see some teasing potential.

I prefer [name]Arlo[/name] by a landslide. It also seems to fit in with -o ending names such as [name]Hugo[/name], [name]Milo[/name], [name]Theo[/name], etc. My cousin’s name is [name]Saxon[/name], and she is a pain in the butt to the whole family. Perhaps the name [name]Saxon[/name] wouldn’t be so bad if it weren’t for my negative association with it.

I like [name]Arlo[/name] best.

I know someone who recently named their daughter [name]Saxon[/name].

Absolutely [name]Arlo[/name], without hesitation.

[name]Arlo[/name] just has a happy and ‘cool’ vibe to it. Then again, I’m a huge fan of -o ending boy names. [name]Saxon[/name] is not my cup of tea. It feels harsh to me, and I don’t really like how it is associated with the name of an ethnicity.
