Please help vet the name Liv Eleanor :)

Husband and I have very different taste in names. He likes w3himsical names like [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. I like fresh, strong, yet feminine names like [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], and [name_f]Eva[/name_f].

The one girl’s name we have agreed on so far is [name_f]Liv[/name_f]. We like it because it’s not super common and it honors our Norwegian descent. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is non-negotiable because DH has heart set on naming after his grandmother.

[name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] passes the initial test with our last name. Any other problems you forsee? [name_m]How[/name_m] will kids make fun of it? (Not that that would deter us…just want to be prepared. Because you know there’s always one kid that will find a way!)

I love [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]! I think that’s such a pretty name, and I like how you picked [name_f]Liv[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or [name_f]Olive[/name_f] or [name_f]Livia[/name_f].

The only type of teasing I can imagine is something like, “Let’s all play graveyard, [name_f]Liv[/name_f] you can’t play because you’re [name_f]LIV[/name_f]-ing!” But that seems a bit extreme, even for kids.

I also think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is really pretty! I foresee no problems with [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]!

The only negative feedback I could see you getting is that [name_f]Liv[/name_f] is often considered more of a nickname than a full name so you may have some people asking what her full name is. I don’t think you’ll have any problems with teasing stemming from this name. [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] flows very nicely.

I really like [name_f]Liv[/name_f]. It has a lovely meaning and reminds me of [name_f]Liv[/name_f] Ullmann and her films with [name_m]Ingmar[/name_m] Bergman.

Out of interest, how are you pronouncing it? The Norwegian way or the English way?

My niece is called [name_f]Liv[/name_f]. It’s indeed a strong and fresh name. The only teasing she gets is due to the show ‘[name_f]Liv[/name_f] and [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]’.

We are pronouncing it the bastardized
English way.

For a while I questioned whether that was completely wrong, and then I realized I didn’t care. I love the English pronunciation. Plus, it’s likely everyone else will pronounce it that way anyway the first time they read it.

My mom might think the pronunciation is weird, given that she named me [name_u]Kari[/name_u] (pronounced the Norwegian way rather than “[name_f]Carrie[/name_f]”), but she will learn to love it.

I absolutely [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Liv[/name_f]! And [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is another of my favourites - you’re so lucky that you get to use it as an honour name. [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] flows beautifully. Great choice!

I actually want to use [name_f]Liv[/name_f] for a future daughter, also pronounced the anglicised way. I think it’s a cleaner, prettier sound and will avoid the inevitable spelling/pronunciation confusion with “leev”.

I think [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is beautiful, and I don’t think it would cause any teasing whatsoever. It’s very pretty!

I think it sounds great! [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.

I love it! [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is fabulous!

I love the name [name_f]Liv[/name_f].

I’d prefer [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f]. Feels a bit fresher, sleeker, and more quirky! Still it honours [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name! It’s hard for me to really like a name that I wouldn’t pick out for myself but I love this one. I like when people choose to honor their ancestors and their ancestry and it’s extra awesome when they get to do it with a beautiful name like this one. Like another user pointed out already, the only problem I can foresee is that you will probably get asked more than once if [name_f]Liv[/name_f] is short for another name. I can’t imagine being asked that is a big deal, though.

I don’t know why I have never considered the name [name_f]Liv[/name_f] because it truly is beautiful.

[name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is gorgeous!

If I really nit pick, it might be annoying when people say ‘What’s it short for?’ But I can’t foresee anything major.
