Please help with new character name

The final exam for my British Literature class includes a writing section that we are allowed to write in advance. One of the assignments is a creative writing piece (yay!) that uses elements from one of the pieces that we read in class this semester. I got a little excited and I have already chosen the work I’m basing my story off of and the elements I’m going to use.

I’m planning to do a romantic quest like the one in Sir [name_m]Gawain[/name_m] and the [name_u]Green[/name_u] [name_m]Knight[/name_m]. It’s fine if you haven’t read it and there’s no reason for you to in order to help me. In a fun turn of events, I was playing around with a potential romantic partner for one of my characters in a novel I’m working on currently and I’m going to use this assignment as a “test run” for this potential love interest.

Genre of [name_u]Story[/name_u]: [name_f]Fantasy[/name_f], romance
Time Period/Location: Another world based loosely off of medieval Europe

Character Description: She’s not very fleshed out yet but I picture her as strong, somewhat blunt, confident (sometimes to a fault), and fearless, but is also organized and a careful planner. She’s around 20 years old.

For some reason, I’m really loving a [name_m]French[/name_m] name for this character. I like the sophistication that a [name_m]French[/name_m] name would bring but also the strength they have. The name doesn’t have to be [name_m]French[/name_m] but all of the names I’ve considered have been.

Names I’m considering/already considered:
[name_u]Simone[/name_u] and [name_f]Camille[/name_f] (don’t seem quite right)
[name_f]Colette[/name_f] (may use on another character but is still on the table)
[name_f]Cosette[/name_f] and [name_f]Josette[/name_f] (probably too cutesy)

[name_f]Celine[/name_f] (still on the table)
[name_f]Sabine[/name_f] (current favorite)

The name can’t end with an “uh” sound because I have a lot of characters who have names like this. Also hoping to avoid names that start with “M” for the same reason. If it helps, her love interest is named [name_f]Naiara[/name_f].

Thank you so much!

I did a quick Google of medieval [name_m]French[/name_m] names and these were the ones that came up that I think might suit her;
Alodie
Emilde
[name_f]Felise[/name_f]
Perenelle
Ysole
[name_f]Isabeau[/name_f]

What about:
[name_f]Adrienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Angelique[/name_f]
Aurélie
[name_f]Claudia[/name_f]
[name_f]Julienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonie[/name_f]
[name_f]Pauline[/name_f]
[name_f]Regina[/name_f]
[name_u]Ren[/name_u]ée
Thérèse
[name_f]Victoire[/name_f]

Aaaahhh, you guys are awesome!

@islandmoon, I’m loving Alodie and [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f]! I’m especially intrigued by [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] because I see this character as maybe being from a higher social class but rebelling against the expectation to be the “perfect” lady, and I love how [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] has the sophistication of [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] but the spunkiness (and almost masculinity) of “beau”.

@rouverture, I love the ideas of Aurélie and [name_f]Renee[/name_f]! I have a tendency to use current name crushes when I name my characters and Aurélie has been on my mind recently so it seems almost perfect!
