Our baby girl is due soon and we still can’t agree on a name. Our sons are called [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m], two-syllable surname beginning with ‘P’.
Frontrunners:
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u] (DH’s favourite, but I’m not sure if it’s too much of a mouthful/too similar to [name_m]Leo[/name_m]?)
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]
Still on the ‘possible’ list:
[name_f]Angelica[/name_f]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] (DH’s 2nd favorite, I’m concerned that it’s too popular?)
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Valentina[/name_f]
[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]
My favorite from your front-runners is [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]. [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], and [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] all have a distinctive sound, yet they’re similar in style and I love how they all have an O in them. I like [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] but it feels a little frilly with [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m], and I agree it’s too similar to [name_m]Leo[/name_m].
Your still possible list has some good mn contenders but as firsts, they’re too long for me stylistically. However, I think [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] would be darling.
I love all your front-runners, they’re gorgeous on their own and with [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], even [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] fits in beautifully.
From your “possible” list, I think [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and [name_f]Helena[/name_f] are both wonderful, neither of your children’s names are unpopular and seem to be rising, so I don’t think [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is too popular either (it’s certainly not going to be a [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] or [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] of this generation and if she meets one or two or even 5 other Evelyns in her life, I don’t see the problem, it usually gives children something to bond over and as an adult you don’t really care anymore).
I adore [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. I think all the names work well with [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] except [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], they don’t give off the same feel as the boys’ names to me.
I vote [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] as it subtly matches your sons’ names with the letter “O”. I love [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], but do think I would get my tongue twisted when calling them for dinner. [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] is simple, beautiful and a nature name, as well as being quite rare, but still simple enough as not to have it considered strange or hard to spell.
Although I adore [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], I think [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] fits best with [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. Another idea would be [name_f]Flora[/name_f].
Thank you! DH’s least favorite name is [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], and I can’t seem to talk him around! He’s very keen on [name_u]Eloise[/name_u], but a lot of people seem to think it doesn’t ‘go’ with [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. If we went for this name, she would probably go by the nickname ‘Lulu’ (Leo and Lulu - not sure if I think that’s cute or silly!)
I don’t want to have any name regrets with my last baby (and only girl!) Please keep the thoughts coming x
I think [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] or [name_f]Helena[/name_f] would be perfect! [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]/[name_f]Helena[/name_f] - three gorgeous, classic, international names. What a shame that your husband isn’t keen on [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]!
DH and I talked about names last night, and he says that [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] is pretty much out for him : ( He strongly favors [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u].
Of the two, I much prefer [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] as it is less common and doesn’t have that ubiquitous [name_f]Evie[/name_f] nickname (I know some Eloises are known as [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] but I would try and steer towards a [name_f]Lulu[/name_f]/[name_f]Lola[/name_f] abbreviation!) DH on the fence about [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] as he thinks his Aussie relatives would pronounce it “[name_f]Bee[/name_f]-triss” which is nowhere near as nice as the three-syllable pronunciation!
So what do we think? [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] or [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]? Or possibly Oscar, Leo and Beatrice if DH can get over the pronunciation issue??
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]! [name_f]Every[/name_f] kid gets an O! (: [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] is really nice with [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m]
