Hey Ladies - I’m a newbie here in desperate search for name inspiration!
My baby girl is due in 7 weeks and we are no closer to finding a name we love and I’m starting to stress!!
This is baby #1 for us.
We are pretty certain that we would like mn to be [name]Joy[/name]…? opinions?
UPDATE: after a few replies and being advised that a 1 syllable mn doesn’t really flow with my surname I thought I’d add a new mn to consider: Elisa (eh LEE sah). I want the middle name to be linked to my mum in some way, her name is Elisabeth Joy.
I love [name]Indigo[/name] [name]Joy[/name]! nn [name]Indi[/name]! To be honest though I’m not 100% about one syllable mn [name]Joy[/name] with one syllable last name [name]Ward[/name]… [name]Indigo[/name] [name]Ward[/name] sounds fine but [name]Indigo[/name] [name]Joy[/name] [name]Ward[/name] doesn’t quite flow.
I love all your names!! My daughter is [name]Harper[/name] [name]Joy[/name]. With a 1 syllable mn you might find you use it more. I sure do!! I love love [name]Indigo[/name] [name]Joy[/name].
My only thought is if you use [name]Joy[/name] [name]Ward[/name], I think it works better with more than 1 syllable for the first name. Some others I love:
[name]Avery[/name] [name]Joy[/name]
[name]Marlow[/name] [name]Joy[/name]
Good luck!!
Some names that have [name]Joy[/name] in them: [name]Joyce[/name], Joyelle, [name]Joycelyn[/name]. Or names that mean [name]Joy[/name]: [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Blythe[/name], [name]Abbie[/name] (father’s joy), etc.
Thanks so much ladies - totally see your point about 1 syllable mn and sn not flowing - haven’t spotted that before. The reason behind [name]Joy[/name] is that it is my mum’s mn, her name is [name]Elisabeth[/name] [name]Joy[/name] so maybe I could consider using [name]Elisa[/name]? I’m a fan of shorter mn so probably wouldn’t use [name]Elisabeth[/name]…
Hubby will be very pleased to hear that [name]Indigo[/name] is a favourite, that was his choice - he loves the nn [name]Indi[/name]!
Thanks so much for taking the time to help me - can’t wait to share your suggestions with hubby later on and see what he thinks!
Well I read all the suggestions to hubby, and we’ve added a few new ones to our maybes - [name]Isla[/name], [name]India[/name] and [name]Amelie[/name] - thanks ladies please keep the suggestions coming x
[name]Just[/name] to say - I think [name]Joy[/name] with your surname sounds lovely. As long as you don’t have a 1 syllable first name, I think it flows really well.
From your options -
I really like [name]Indigo[/name] [name]Joy[/name] [name]Ward[/name].
I probably wouldn’t use [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Joy[/name] [name]Ward[/name] because it seems a bit short, although [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Ward[/name] sounds lovely.
From your later post -
[name]Amelie[/name] [name]Joy[/name] [name]Ward[/name] is fabulous, nn options are nice too.
[name]Ivy[/name] - you might also like: [name]Iris[/name], [name]Isla[/name], [name]Eve[/name] ([name]Evie[/name]), [name]Edith[/name] ([name]Edie[/name]), [name]Olivia[/name] ([name]Livy[/name]), [name]Lily[/name], [name]Sylvie[/name], [name]Waverly[/name], [name]Avery[/name]
[name]Indigo[/name] - you might also like: [name]India[/name], [name]Lavender[/name], [name]Lilac[/name], [name]Marlow[/name], [name]Olive[/name], [name]Cleo[/name], [name]Margo[/name], [name]Willow[/name]
[name]Hallie[/name] - you might also like: [name]Calla[/name], [name]Callista[/name] ([name]Callie[/name]), [name]Hailey[/name], [name]Ayla[/name], [name]Clea[/name] (prn [name]Clay[/name]-uh), [name]Molly[/name], [name]Holly[/name]
Out of [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Indigo[/name] and [name]Hallie[/name], I think [name]Hallie[/name] sounds best with [name]Ward[/name]. Although I love [name]Ivy[/name], it always reminds me of an I.V (as in an I.V drip in a hospital) and with [name]Ward[/name], that image in magnified for me. But I bet most people wouldn’t make that association.
I love the mn [name]Joy[/name] btw. Very beautiful and sweet. [name]Elisa[/name] is lovely too…to honour an [name]Elisabeth[/name] you could also use [name]Elise[/name], [name]Elsie[/name], [name]Elle[/name], [name]Lisa[/name] or [name]Beth[/name], or even the whole thing - [name]Elisabeth[/name]!
[name]Indigo[/name] [name]Ward[/name] is really cool! I agree that [name]Indi[/name] is a cute nn. My next favorite is [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Elisa[/name]. It’s adorable! Good luck!
Thank you so so much ladies for all of your comments - I still don’t feel as though I have found ‘the one’ but my maybe list has definately grown!! Hopefully when she arrives one of the names on the list will suddenly become the perfect name for her
[name]Ivy[/name] - I love [name]Ivy[/name], I also like [name]Ada[/name] and [name]Zia[/name] and [name]Amy[/name] which have similar simple construction, and some of the more uncommon nature names like [name]Ilana[/name], [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Briar[/name], [name]Jessamine[/name], and [name]Rosemary[/name].
[name]Indigo[/name] - I like [name]Indigo[/name] a lot, and also [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Lilac[/name].
[name]Hallie[/name] - I only like the spelling [name]Halle[/name], sorry. It’s the most distinct and memorable. All the other [name]Hallie[/name]/[name]Haley[/name] forms tend to get mixed into the [name]Hayley[/name]/[name]Hayleigh[/name] forms and it just gets tangled and blurry. I like the concept of [name]Halle[/name] though. [name]Holly[/name] is nice too, and stands out a bit from the others?
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Elise[/name] would be my pick of your options.
I just wanted to say, I think [name]Joy[/name] still works as a middle name fine. I don’t put a whole lot of stock in syllable flow, especially for girls. You may call her [name]Indigo[/name] [name]Joy[/name] at home, but at school she’ll be [name]Indigo[/name] [name]Ward[/name]. Rarely will anyone say [name]Indigo[/name] [name]Joy[/name] [name]Ward[/name] all together, and it’s not that bad if they do. The reason I don’t worry about it much with girls is that they’re likely to get married and change their name some day and a perfectly planned name can become a train wreck. There’s really no way to control it, so I just don’t worry about it, so long as the names don’t rhyme or sound ridiculous. [name]Just[/name] my two cents. I like [name]Ivy[/name] and [name]Indigo[/name] best of your choices.
I actually love [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Joy[/name] or [name]Hallie[/name] [name]Joy[/name]. I also think [name]Joy[/name] sounds just fine with your last name and totally agree with the above poster about it changing when she gets married anyhow. Good luck!
I can see how a 1 syl mn like [name]Joy[/name] can be difficult with [name]Ward[/name] but I think if the fn you choose is long it still works.
For example: [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Joy[/name] [name]Ward[/name] has a nice flow to it.
Other suggestions could include:
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Joy[/name]
[name]Henrietta[/name] [name]Joy[/name]
[name]Juliette[/name] [name]Joy[/name]
[name]Prudence[/name] [name]Joy[/name]
[name]Temperance[/name] [name]Joy[/name]
[name]Tabitha[/name] [name]Joy[/name]
[name]Elisabeth[/name] is a fairly common mn so while I love that you want to honor your mother I’m not a fan of [name]Elisabeth[/name] or [name]Elisa[/name] as a mn - it feels like a filler. I think [name]Joy[/name] (or maybe even your mom’s maiden name) would be more unique and interesting.
