What do you think of [name_m]Polaris[/name_m] nn [name_f]Polly[/name_f] or [name_f]Lissy[/name_f] as a name? It’s the name of the [name_m]Northern[/name_m] [name_f]Star[/name_f] so I think it would be a cool name.
I like it, in large part for its connection to astronomy, as you mentioned! ![]()
I might be more likely to use it in the middle spot personally, but it does have a lot of potential as a first name as well. I slightly prefer it for a boy (but perceive it as completely gender-neutral), and between the two nicknames, I prefer sweet [name_f]Polly[/name]. ![]()
I don’t hate it. I associate it with the brand that produces adventure vehicles, but that’s not a terrible thing. It definitely has potential, even in the first name slot! As far as a nickname, I would go for something that matches the vibe of [name_m]Polaris[/name_m] more, such as [name_f]Pola[/name_f]. Polar bear would be a very cute nickname for a baby/toddler.
I love it! It’s bolder than my usual style so I’ve mostly had it as a middle name but I totally think it works as a first and have considered [name_f]Polly[/name_f] and [name_f]Lara[/name_f] as nickname options.
I think it’s better for the middle spot, but honestly, I think it’s a really cool middle, I’d probably use for a boy, with the nickname [name_m]Lars[/name_m], but it definitely works for a girl too!
I like it – bright and interesting with a sort of magical feel and starry feel. NN [name_f]Polly[/name_f] is cute
I actually really like it
I’m partial to [name_f]Posie[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_m]Polaris[/name_m], but [name_f]Polly[/name_f] would be a close second favourite. [name_m]Polaris[/name_m] is definitely bold, but I think it’s workable. [name_m]The[/name_m] [name_f]North[/name_f] [name_f]Star[/name_f] association is bright and positive; it has a long history of setting adventurers and sailers on the right path and I think that guidance and finding the right direction in life are great virtues to bestow on a child.
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] and [name_f]Lissy[/name_f] are both more approachable nicknames, which helps [name_m]Polaris[/name_m] feel more usable.
I actually think [name_m]Polaris[/name_m] is really cool! I love the meaning behind it and the celestial vibe, and [name_f]Polly[/name_f] is such a cute nickname. I feel like I might have seen a TikTok family use [name_m]Polaris[/name_m] for their daughter! It’s definitely unusual, but I think it has a really pretty, distinctive sound. [name_f]Lissy[/name_f] is cute too, although I probably wouldn’t have made that connection naturally!
I like it in theory, but I find it too heavily associated as a brand. I would think the parents really love their outdoor toys.
I’ve never heard of it before mentioning [name_f]Polaris[/name_f] so I don’t think it’s that well known. or I live under a rock
[name_m]Polaris[/name_m] is really cool! I’m a sucker for a good astronomy name
I do prefer it for a boy but I do think it has some really lovely options for girls nicknames (including [name_f]Polly[/name_f] and Lissy!). I also really like the idea of it with the nn [name_m]Ollie[/name_m], [name_m]Paul[/name_m], or [name_m]Rhys[/name_m] though, too, for a boy!
I love Polaris!! it shot up my list in the last year after I saw it on a TikTok family (their other daughter is Centauri, which I also think is amazingly cool). works great for any gender imo! I think I’d go with [name_f]Posy[/name_f] as a nickname but [name_f]Polly[/name_f] is kinda growing on me…
I really enjoy [name_m]Polaris[/name_m]! Definitely a bold, starry choice, and she works as a first name. I should pitch this one to my DH ![]()
