There’s Bryanna (Bry as in why-anna) instead of Brianna so could Amylia (A-my as in why-lia) instead of Amelia work? I know Amylia is a bit out there and may be confusing, but I can’t help but love it.
- It works, nice name
- Sounds a bit strange
- Kind of like it, but not sure about it
- Pretty
- Really strange
Would Amiylia be better? Would it be easier to pronounce?
I absolutely love the sound of the name, I just think it would constantly be mispronounced.

Thank you! I think it would probably be too, but at least some people would get use to it after knowing her for a while. What names do you think people would mispronounce it as?

I think it would definitely be mispronounced as [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. Annoyingly lots of people are misspelling names to be trendy e.g. [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] as [name_m]Jaxxon[/name_m]. So most people would assume that’s what you are going for. I think you could definitely still use the name as anyone who would be using it often would only need to be corrected once or twice. Perhaps if the child doesn’t like [name_f]Amylia[/name_f] she could easily let people call her [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] instead.

I think [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is a nice name too, so I wouldn’t mind too much it people sometimes called her that and yeah, if people get confused or she doesn’t really vibe with her name, she could go by the [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] pronunciation.
[name_f]Amylia[/name_f] is cute but I think I’ll have to get used to it

I’d pronounce it like Amy-Leah (so ay-mee-lee-ah)… or like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]

I’m sorry but it honestly sounds like some sort of medical diagnosis to me. I originally would pronounce it ay-mee-lee-uh, but either pronunciation sounds medical to me.

I would assume it’s a respelling of [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], intended to be pronounced the same way. If I was told otherwise, I’d guess ah-MILL-ee-ah before ah-MY-lee-ah.
I think it’s just a bit overcomplicated, honestly.

I think a-MY-lia sounds pretty and I don’t know what other spelling you’d use to get there. It might take one correction but then i think people would get it. And if i heard it spoken, i think i might guess right how to spell it. I like it. I wouldnt like it if it was pronounced like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] because then it seems like just a weird spelling, but I like it with the Why [name_f]Lia[/name_f] pronunciation.

I think logistically it would be very difficult to wear as a first name because the corrections on spelling and pronunciation would be frequent. Plenty of us deal with that to some extent and it’s tolerable. However the pronunciation really isn’t intuitive and with how popular Amelia is, I can just see the corrections becoming a lot. But as a middle name? Why not.

I also would say this as either Amy-Leah, or interpret it as a respelling of [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. I would never expect to pronounce it Ah-MY-lia, and actually had to read your post a couple times to understand how it was you were thinking of pronouncing it. However, I also would be suprised to get [name_f]Bryanna[/name_f] pronounced the way you said, but tha may be because the only person I’ve met with it spelled that way pronounced it bree-ah-na. Honestly though, I don’t find [name_f]Amylia[/name_f] intuitive at all, and find I get a bit tongue-tied trying to say it, but that may just be me.
For a similar sound, but way less confusing, would you consider [name_f]Amaya[/name_f]? To get all the sounds in the name, you could use the combo [name_f]Amaya[/name_f] [name_f]Lia[/name_f] or [name_f]Amaya[/name_f] [name_f]Leah[/name_f], which I think would be very pretty!

I don’t think that spelling clarifies your desired pronunciation unfortunately. Amaylia might work because of [name_f]Amaya[/name_f] but could still be mispronounced (I think that would be the easiest to correct though.)
