I just added that to the poll, thank you!

I know two [name_f]Ciara[/name_f]’s, one with the [name_f]Keira[/name_f] PN the other like [name_u]Sierra[/name_u]. I voted for the first one in the poll as this is the one I’d guess first.

I have only heard it pronounced like [name_u]Sierra[/name_u], but when I look at it, I just think of [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m], which makes me want to say it like [name_f]Kiera[/name_f]. :woman_shrugging:t3:

It’s the feminine form of [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] and the original spelling of [name_f]Keira[/name_f], so the correct pronunciation is [name_f]Keira[/name_f] :slightly_smiling_face:

I wondered! Thank you.

I pronounce it like Kee-Ar-Uh (which isn’t technically correct according to the etymology of this name - just the only person named [name_f]Ciara[/name_f] I know says it this way!), so I suppose Key-Are-Uh would be the closest out of the options you’ve listed!

I know at least one person of every pronunciation. It mostly depends on the spelling of the name. If it is spelt [name_f]Ciara[/name_f] then I would go with See-air-a, but [name_f]Keira[/name_f] is [name_m]Keer[/name_m]-a

I’ve known two [name_f]Ciara[/name_f]’s, both are KEER-uh, which is as has already been commented technically the “correct” pronunciation. You’d. probably get see-AIR-uh (also lovely) quite a bit at first, but it’s easily correctable.

I like the keer-uh pronunciation, but I think the [name_f]Kiera[/name_f] spelling is more intuitive, so that’s my preference. The only [name_f]Ciara[/name_f] I know personally pronounces it like see-air-uh, but I’ve seen it pronounced every way you’ve got listed here.

I’ve also seen [name_f]Cierra[/name_f], which I think is probably my favorite spelling for the see-air-uh pronunciation. I like that it’s basically [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] with a C, because I prefer it with a C but would still want the pronunciation to be obvious. I dislike the [name_f]Ciara[/name_f] spelling simply because it can be pronounced so many different ways, but [name_f]Cierra[/name_f] doesn’t seem to have that issue.

I pronounce it like [name_f]Keira[/name_f], and [name_f]Chiara[/name_f] like key-are-uh.

I went to Catholic school in [name_f]England[/name_f] so there were quite a lot of Ciaras. Pronounced it [name_f]Keira[/name_f] and [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] as [name_m]Keiran[/name_m].

Didn’t even think about it being closer to [name_u]Sierra[/name_u] for some people until I got online, which did dull the name some for me personally.

In Irish culture it’s pronounced the same as [name_f]Kiera[/name_f] / [name_f]Keira[/name_f]. I have met several Ciaras and they all pronounced it this way.

I’d assume keer-uh

Think it obvs depends on how familiar with Gaelic linguistics one is as to whether this is intuitive but, as stated above, original correct pronunciation is keer-uh (hence the anglicised spelling) and the other variations seem to have spouted from the name travelling outside Gaelic zones in the last century or so

Keer-ah more of an ah than an uh in my accent :shamrock:
Only ever get See-air-ah from people from [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]America[/name_u]. A lot of [name_f]English[/name_f] people would hear it though and assume it’s [name_f]Kiera[/name_f] or some ask of it’s C or K. Really common name for girls my age in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f] so that’s maybe why?

I know it’s pronounced [name_m]Keer[/name_m]-uh, but instinctively I want to say See-air-uh like the singer :joy:

I believe See-air-uh is the Russian pronunciation

I say it more key-ah-rah
