How do you pronounce Adeline? I’ve heard it lots of different ways!!

I usually pronounce it add-eh-lynn, myself!

  • add-eh-lynn (rhymes with Madelyn)
  • add-eh-line
  • ay-duh-lynn
  • ay-duh-line
  • add-eh-leen

If the name is [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] I pronounce it like the red haired [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] character. So when I see [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] I want to say it like that but without the M

I say add-uh-line. Basically a mix of the add-eh-line and ay-duh-lynn options.

The only [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] I know uses -leen pronunciation as her family speaks [name_u]French[/name_u], so that’s my default (and my favorite)!

I was just thinking [name_f]Adelyn[/name_f] might be your best bet for the pronunciation you want.

@lavenderwitch yes! I have a cousin named Adelyn and thus pronounce Adeline the same as her name since I’m familiar with it!

I say add-uh-line. So similar to add-eh-line but more of a uh sound

I’ve actually never heard it pronounces any other way than Ad-eh-line when it’s spelled that way!
