Poll: How usable is Daisy?

  • Perfectly usable, I could picture it on a child and an adult
  • I like it but I can only picture it on a child
  • It’s usable but I don’t like it
  • I dislike it and it’s not usable (dogs name only perhaps)

I’m loving the idea of Daisy recently, but my hang up is I am not sure if it’s too juvenile to age well. Personally I could see it on an adult, but it is quite cutesy compared to my normal style. Also, my name is Sadie and I constantly get “that’s my dog’s name” when I meet people, which I’m sure would happen to a Daisy as well. It doesn’t bother me but I thought I would get opinions!

I like [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and find it cute but wearable. I know a couple of adult Daisys and there’s [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_m]Buchanan[/name_m] as well for a literary association.

The thing that would give me pause in your shoes is that it’s literally the inverse of your names in terms of sound. That feels a little too close to me.

If it feels too juvenile, you could always use Margaret as the full name and Daisy as the nickname! Then when she’s older, she could be Margaret, Meg, Maggie, Greta, etc. if Daisy still felt juvenile.

I’ve met Daisys my age who are now adults and they wear it well. I think it can work on any age

[name_f]My[/name_f] great grandmother was a [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], in all the pictures I’ve seen, it suited her well for all ages.
All names age with time, I think sometimes it’s just hard to picture since for the younger generations it’s a new name we haven’t seen in a while so it’s hard to picture someone older, in the way that it’s easier for us to picture a rose because there are more examples of older people named [name_f]Rose[/name_f] around. It’s a beautiful makes no matter the age In my opinion. After all, names are just sounds, so if you think about it, a sound can’t be juvenile, it can’t have an age

I know several Daisys, most of which are adults. It’s not at all uncommon in the UK.

I personally am not a huge fan (which is odd because I adore Maisie) but it’s definitely usable and it’s not too juvenile at all. I’ve met people named [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and they wear it well. And I don’t feel like it’s a dog name at all! (I think for me the only reason I don’t like it that much is because I don’t really like the look of daisy flowers. :joy: ) If you like [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], go for it!

I know Daisys of all ages so I’ve never considered it as unusable for an adult. I have [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] nn [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] as my top girl name :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] is mainly used as a pet name in the US, but I think it could work as a middle name for a person.

Daisy is a fine name, I can see it on both adults and kids.

I’ve met both children and adults named [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]. There have been no issues for either with people thinking it’s too young or too old for them… people around them have come to know it as their name. The adults I’ve known with the name have been taken seriously while the name on kids has been considered sweet and/or cute.
