[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] is exquisite, but [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] offends me on some level–probably because of the nn.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] to be clear, my husband won’t use a nickname (he doesn’t “believe in them”?) and I will most likely use “[name_f]Maple[/name_f]” for either of these. [name_f]Millie[/name_f] is pretty but way too popular for me.
Although I love the nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f] I have to go with [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]. It is a very beautiful classic name with a variety of nickname potentials, [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], Marg, [name_f]Rita[/name_f] etc.
Although I like the nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f] I prefer [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] between the two. It is a beautiful classic name.
Interesting that so many prefer [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]- thank you all for your votes and input!
I have to go with [name_f]Millicent[/name_f]. I would have voted for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], but I am not really a fan of [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f].
I love the name [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] myself, so that one got my vote.
[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] is a type of daisy and a family name for me. I much prefer it.
I prefer [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]. For some reason when I hear [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] my mind equates it with Maleficent, the witch from sleeping beauty. So it makes [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] sound kind of evil to me. But clearly that’s just my weird brain.
The only reason I can’t get on board for [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] is because I associate it too much with Millificent, the evil queen in Sleeping Beauty. But I think [name_f]Millie[/name_f] is super cute!
@lizabethm and @cmhinken, I read on the [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Name [name_m]Wizard[/name_m] site that it is a common association to make so I guess that’s something to consider. My daughter is almost 3 and I rarely have the tv on around her so I’m sure when she’s older and sees these movies, I’ll be a lot more aware of these things! Something to consider, though it isn’t actually the same name so that dilutes the negative vibe some for me.
