Poll: Pick one of 3

Still deciding on a boy name for our September baby. Landed on these 3 my husband and I both like but would love some input! My older son is Max, but we’re not too worried about a matchy sibset.

Some notes on each:

Ethan - a little worried it’s been so popular the last ~20 years, but we both like it and it goes very well with our last name.

Elliot - last name starts with a T but it actually doesn’t run together too badly. However, we always have to spell out our last name, so constantly spelling out Elliot in addition to that could be a huge pain.

Jonah - I like that it’s not as popular but we are not religious, so wondering if it’s a weird choice for us. Husband’s family is Jewish.

Thank you all!

[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] doesn’t seem like a weird choice to me - it doesn’t sound any more overtly religious than [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], or names like [name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_u]Noah[/name_u], Elijah… I wouldn’t assume that the parents picked any of those names for religious reasons!

I voted for [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] but it was a tough choice - all of these are names have their own charm. I think my second choice would be [name_u]Jonah[/name_u].

[name_f]My[/name_f] sons name is [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] and so that is obviously my first choice!

What a nice shortlist you have! I voted for [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] because that’s on my (not very) longlist of boys names. [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] would be a close second though, I just love how soft and soothing it sounds to say.

I voted for [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] - it’s what I, at the age of six, campaigned for my parents to name my brother. (They didn’t go for it.) I’ve always liked the sound of it and I really like it with [name_u]Max[/name_u]. I like [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] a lot too and this is my favourite spelling of it, but I do think it’s a name that will have to be spelled out a lot and that could get tiresome if your surname is also something that ends up needing to be spelled out a lot.

[name_m]Ethan[/name_m] was really popular for kids about 15-20 years ago in my area so I’m kind of tired of it - it’s objectively a really nice name but it doesn’t feel fresh to me these days.

I like jonah best for you !! I don’t think one needs to be religious to use a name as mainstream as jonah

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] for you! I don’t think you need to be religious to use it, it’s just a well established boy name to me. After all [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] is also religious and [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] is related to [name_u]Elias[/name_u], and they all seem usable.

I like both [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] and [name_u]Jonah[/name_u] but I voted for [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] because It seems like you guys were more a fan of it over [name_u]Jonah[/name_u].

[name_f]Every[/name_f] [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] I’ve met has been a little terror. [name_m]Just[/name_m] something about that name. Now I just steer clear of that name
