We don’t know the gender, but these are our current frontrunner combos for a girl. Wondering what the Berries think! I’d love to know why you chose the one(s) you did.
Eve is an honor name for my mom.
I think [name_f]Polly[/name_f] or [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] with [name_f]Eve[/name_f] as a middle. [name_f]Eve[/name_f] is beautiful but feels almost part of Deliverance already. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] feels too close to [name_m]Ransom[/name_m]. I just don’t like [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] as much as [name_f]Polly[/name_f] and [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] but I can see that it does match the set and [name_f]Zippy[/name_f] is sweet.
[name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] though has the same weighting and intriguing drama of your other names. [name_u]An[/name_u] interesting choice might be to use Eva-Marie or Eve-Mary nn [name_f]Polly[/name_f] (where any [name_f]Mary[/name_f] name is a classical route to Polly) to also incorporate your mother’s name or choose a name like [name_f]Maribeth[/name_f], [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] or [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] with nn [name_f]Polly[/name_f]. Might not be needed - I like [name_f]Polly[/name_f] alone and it’s a blue name like [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] and Deliverance - but if you wanted to make [name_f]Polly[/name_f] have a more serious name too, this could be the way to go.
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] Zipporah… balances out the biblical name uniqueness of [name_m]Ransom[/name_m] and Deliverance with the more familiar [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]
@EloiseT thanks for the thoughtful points! I don’t like the flow or the shortness of [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f], which is why I added [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] to that combo; but as I just noted in my boy poll post, my husband is very reluctant to consider three names.
Oddly, it isn’t the similarity to [name_m]Ransom[/name_m] that bothers me most about [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (as back-to-back sibs, I don’t think I’d like it though); it’s that [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is just so sweet. It doesn’t quite have the little kick most of the others do. Also, acquaintances had a baby [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] last year and I don’t like the copycat sort of feeling. It has a lot going for it, though. It’s my husband’s current favorite; its familiarity balances Tobias; it sounds fine as a sister to Deliverance (difficult feat!); and since this little one is a rainbow baby, I like the “Rosemary, that’s for remembrance…” reference as a sweet, subtle nod.
Thanks for the [name_f]Polly[/name_f] ideas! More to think about. I did suggest [name_f]Miriam[/name_f] awhile back (though not with nn Polly) and my husband was pretty meh.
@Alix2016 yes! That’s one of the reasons I like [name_f]Eve[/name_f] as a first name idea. I would have thought its shortness would bother me next to Deliverance, but it’s such a complete little name.
I had [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] on my list but didn’t commit in end because of the faffing around about pronunciations- Rose-mary, Rosem’ree. I do like it though - and I think it is poetic / symbolic and a little holy / religious sounding next to the other names. I’m just a bit obsessive about mixing starting letters but I agree not a major deal esp when a kid in between! [name_f]Eve[/name_f] is a fave name of mine btw - it’s pure and beautiful - and there would be something unexpected in rounding off with [name_f]Eve[/name_f] (assuming Eve/Evie not used for Deliverance).
We say Rose-mary, but I like the other pronunciation also; it doesn’t bother me that someone might occasionally pronounce it Rosem’ree.
Deliverance gets [name_f]Livvy[/name_f] and [name_f]Liv[/name_f] (and my sisters call her [name_m]Ted[/name_m] for some obscure reason ), never Eve/Evie. [name_f]Livvy[/name_f] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] are so close it would bother me terribly if those were given names of sisters, but as occasional nicknames I think it’s rather…cute than otherwise?
To me, [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] and [name_f]Hannelore[/name_f] were the only two who stood up well next to [name_m]Ransom[/name_m], [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] and Deliverance. The others felt very mismatched with the sibset. Fun and interesting names! I’d be delighted to meet this sibset in the wild!
