I voted [name]Tessa[/name] because of the flow. I think [name]Giovanna[/name] sounds odd with all of these names though. My favorites are [name]Eliza[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name], but I really dislike them with [name]Giovanna[/name].
I went with [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Giovanna[/name]. I think it’s great that you are choosing a middle name that has family significance, that’s really important to me too!
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Giovanna[/name] sounds much better than all the rest to my ear. It also seems to exude elegance and spunk which is not an easy thing to do. Good [name]Luck[/name]!
[name]Lucy[/name] for me, too. I like 2-syllable [name]Lucy[/name] with 4-syllable [name]Giovanna[/name]; I like that the endings don’t rhyme (unlike [name]Tessa[/name] and [name]Eliza[/name]); and I like the fluidity and ease with which the name is pronounced. Your “jah” names ([name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name]) were tongue-twisters with [name]Giovanna[/name].
[name]Lucy[/name] is a cheerful, unpretentious, yet deep name. Wears well from babyhood to old age. When paired with something as dramatic and elegant as [name]Giovanna[/name], it shines.
Finally, [name]Lucy[/name] + “Kohler” (whatever your surname is) sounds really excellent on its own.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] because you get the best of both worlds with [name]Elizabeth[/name] / [name]Eliza[/name] - and I think with [name]Giovanna[/name], a name not ending in A would be best in terms of flow.
I probably shouldn’t have included the middle name, since it’s not really a factor for us, even if the flow doesn’t work as well with many of the others. [name]Lucy[/name] is on the bottom end for me - haha, but I do appreciate all the opinions. And the points about [name]Lucy[/name] are interesting and valid.
I voted for [name]Tessa[/name]. No question. I [name]LOVE[/name] this name. It seems slightly like a nn to me, which I don’t usually like as a full name, but despite that, I absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] this name. It’s perfect on a little girl and a college student, and a professional, and a grandmother. It has so much personality in it. There is nothing bad about this name in my mind. And I know you said you’re not thinking about flow, but it sounds terrific with [name]Giovanna[/name].
If I had to pick a second place, I think it would be [name]Lucy[/name], but it’s a distant second.
I chose [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I love [name]Elizabeth[/name] and I love [name]Eliza[/name] and I think it sounds gorgeous with [name]Giovanna[/name]. I actually like the repeated “a” endings with two names. I had [name]Sophia[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name] on my list for a while so that doesn’t bother me at all and I think it sounds romantic.
I didn’t vote, haha, because I honestly love all your options, too! [name]Lucy[/name] is at the bottom for me, too, although I can see why the Berries would love it–a lot of them (I say them, haha, because flow rarely matters to me that much!) put a lot of importance in how a name flows. I think [name]Tessa[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name] would be my favorites, but I have a long (and deep) abiding love for the name [name]Eliza[/name] (which I like much better on its own than for a nn for [name]Elizabeth[/name], although I love [name]Elisabeth[/name]/[name]Elizabeth[/name] in its own right, too). Honestly, my favorite combo is [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Giovanna[/name] (it just looks so gorgeous and lush!), but if I had to vote for my favorite FN, ignoring combos and flow and all of that, [name]Genevieve[/name] is probably my favorite. It’s so striking and beautiful, and I love so many of its nns (foremost being [name]Evie[/name]!). If [name]Tessa[/name] was just [name]Tess[/name], then that would get my vote. [name]Tess[/name] (or [name]Theresa[/name] nn [name]Tess[/name]) is a deep favorite of mine, but the “A” always seems superfluous, I don’t know why. I used to prefer [name]Tessa[/name] as I thought [name]Tess[/name] wasn’t enough, but now just [name]Tess[/name] is enough for me, and the “A” in [name]Tessa[/name] just seems extra. Funny how those things work.
[name]Giovanna[/name] is so… vavavoom! I think I’d go for matching tone over flow. [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] are the most luscious and feminine of your options.
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Giovanna[/name] or [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Giovanna[/name].
I might keep [name]Lucy[/name] as a nick and use [name]Lucia[/name] [name]Giovanna[/name] ("[name]Lu[/name]-CHEE-ah") or Lucilia [name]Giovanna[/name] ("[name]Lu[/name]-SEE-lee-ah" or “[name]Lu[/name]-CHEE-lee-ah”) which feel more balanced.
