Polly

Lets talk about [name]Polly[/name] for a minute. What do you think? What would you think if you met a child named [name]Polly[/name]? Would you expect it to be a short form of a longer name? Could you see a [name]Patricia[/name] being called [name]Polly[/name]? What about a [name]Paula[/name]? Can you come up with a better full name? Or is [name]Polly[/name] fine on it’s own (like [name]Molly[/name])? Is it too dated? [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Peggy[/name] or [name]Poppy[/name] or something similar more than [name]Polly[/name]? Thanks Berries

I think it’s fine on its own.
I would be so happy to meet a little [name]Polly[/name]! It’s a beautiful fun name that’s easy to spell and pronounce. [name]Unique[/name] but not weird.

If you really want a longer name I think [name]Paula[/name] would be fantastic.
Other options might be: [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Phillipa[/name], [name]Priscilla[/name], [name]Paisley[/name]

I have a patient that is named [name]Polly[/name]. The name fits her to a note. She is sweet, energetic and has a lovely smile. I think that it can stand alone.

I really love [name]Polly[/name] on its own. I actually know quite a few girls named [name]Polly[/name] (I’m in the UK) mostly in the age range of 5-16, so I personally don’t think it’s too dated but I can see why some might think it is, although [name]Patricia[/name] and [name]Paula[/name] sound way more dated to me.

[name]Paloma[/name] nn [name]Polly[/name] would be lovely.

I’d love to meet a little [name]Polly[/name]! So cute. It’s nice on it’s own (I don’t really get the nickname thing) but if it was a nickname I’d expect the full name to be [name]Polina[/name] or [name]Pollyanna[/name].

[name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Polly[/name]! It feels timeless, spunky and wearable to me. If [name]Poppy[/name] and [name]Molly[/name] can be full names than I see no reason why [name]Polly[/name] can’t. I do have a soft spot for [name]Pollyanna[/name], but I would most likely use [name]Polly[/name] on it’s own.

[name]Polly[/name] was actually a nn for [name]Mary[/name] (as was [name]Molly[/name]). There were so many [name]Marys[/name] around centuries ago that people had to find creative ways to differentiate them all and that’s why [name]Mary[/name] has so many wonderful nn’s. I love [name]Polly[/name] - it’s sweet, spunky and vintage. So other than [name]Mary[/name], I think [name]Paulina[/name] would be a good option.

I like [name]Polly[/name] but more as a nickname than a full name. [name]Mary[/name] [name]Paulina[/name] would be a cool way to tie it in. I can also see it as a nickname for [name]Apollonia[/name].

I think [name]Polly[/name] is cute name, though I prefer it as a nn for a name like [name]Paulina[/name]. Sometimes when I hear the name [name]Polly[/name] I think of [name]Polly[/name] want a cracker or [name]Polly[/name] Pocket (which I used to love). [name]Polly[/name] Pocket is a good association.

[name]Mary[/name] could be a cool way to tie in the nn [name]Polly[/name], but it may be confusing to some. A lot of people outside the name world don’t know about past nn’s like [name]Hob[/name] for the name [name]Robert[/name]. It would take some explaining but it is a cute idea.

I do like the name [name]Polly[/name].

I would love to meet a little [name]Polly[/name]. Such a sweet vintage gem. I think it’s beautiful on its own.

I made a thread on this name months back, and someone suggested [name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Polly[/name].

I love [name]Polly[/name], such a sweet, simple and classic name!

[name]Polly[/name] is really cute but if I met one I would expect her full name to be [name]Mary[/name], or maybe [name]Pollyanna[/name]. I wouldn’t use it as a full name because she would probably get asked what her full name was a lot (I would be one of those asking… that’s why I would never put a nickname-y name on a birth certificate). [name]Paula[/name] and [name]Patricia[/name], while great names, wouldn’t work [name]IMO[/name] because [name]Polly[/name] is so well known as a traditional nickname for another name.

[name]Polly[/name] is precious. I loved it so much, I couldn’t wait to use it on an actual child… Our shih-tzu is named [name]Pollyanna[/name] and we call her [name]Polly[/name] (or pollywog.) I [name]LOVE[/name] it! I would adore meeting a little girl named [name]Polly[/name]. Fresher than [name]Molly[/name] [name]IMO[/name], and there just aren’t any young Pollys running around here in the U.S., so it’s definitely unique. I like [name]Polly[/name] on its own, or [name]Pollyanna[/name], or [name]Paulina[/name].

I love the name [name]Polly[/name]! I think of the [name]Nirvana[/name] song, and I think it is unique these days. I don’t care for [name]Paula[/name] or [name]Patricia[/name] very much, but could work.

[name]Polly[/name] could be [name]Polina[/name], [name]Paulina[/name], [name]Paula[/name], [name]Paloma[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Appolonia[/name] or just [name]Polly[/name]…though like [name]Molly[/name] I find it very girlish.

I like [name]Polina[/name] & [name]Appolonia[/name] best.

[name]Peggy[/name] is more vintage/cute/unique. [name]Poppy[/name] makes me think dad. [name]Posy[/name] is ok. [name]Penny[/name] is nms. [name]Patsy[/name] is super cute and makes more sense for [name]Patricia[/name].

I love the name [name]Polly[/name] on it’s own but… [name]Polly[/name] Pocket kinda ruined it for me :frowning:

Traditionally a nickname for [name]Mary[/name], I would probably use it as an endearment for [name]Opal[/name].

[name]Do[/name] you think [name]Opal[/name] - [name]Polly[/name] works? Opals are my husband’s favourite gemstone.

Sure I think [name]Polly[/name] could work as a nickname for [name]Opal[/name]! 3 of the 4 letters and similar tones.

Ssshhhhh stop talking about [name]Polly[/name]! I love it and would use it if I had another daughter tomorrow! I like it on it’s own. No need to use something else.
