What do you think of the name [name_f]Polly[/name_f]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like any of the combos below? [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to tweak the combos or make suggestions.
I briefly considered [name_f]Polly[/name_f] as a middle name for my daughter who is due soon. It would be honoring my husband [name_m]Paul[/name_m] who passed away. I think [name_f]Polly[/name_f] is a sweet and underused name.
I think [name_f]Polly[/name_f] needs a longer, stronger and more traditional name in the middle to balance her out. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are my favorites.
I love [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], so sweet, cute and southern sounding! I really like the name [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], she’s one of my favorite feminizations, but something about her with [name_f]Polly[/name_f] throws me off. I think it’s got to do because they remind me of Polydora or something out of Greek mythology in general. I adore Greek mythology, but if it’s not your thing than I would think it over a bit.
I actually had [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] on my list but nixed it because of it’s similarity to Polydora. I wasn’t sure if [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] was too similar.
Not a fan of [name_f]Polly[/name_f]. It is very nickname-y and generally not my style. It reminds me of [name_f]Paula[/name_f] which I think is dated.
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is my favorite.
Some issues you may run into you with [name_f]Polly[/name_f] combos is that they can run into each other sounding like one long name. Example: [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Vera[/name_f] reminds me of a prescription drug name.
My nickname is [name_f]Polly[/name_f]; I like it quite a lot, more so in an English/British accent than an American one (not a fan of the drawn-out “Pah-lee” sound American’s usually go for).
As middle names, I really like 3+ syllable names, [name_u]Adair[/name_u] being an exception, I just really like how 1920s/30s it sounds.
These are my favourite from your list:
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_u]Adair[/name_u]
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f]
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] / [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f]
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Jemima[/name_f]
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]*
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
It’s great to get positive feedback on [name_f]Polly[/name_f]—I wasn’t expecting it! [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] seem to be the most well liked of the combos.
Thank you!
Oh, and just for fun: I’m really into [name_f]Afton[/name_f] and [name_u]Adair[/name_u] with [name_f]Polly[/name_f] at the moment. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you all have any suggestions along that line?
I love [name_f]Polly[/name_f], and many of your combinations. [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Amabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] are my favourites. I prefer [name_f]Pollie[/name_f] as a spelling, but [name_f]Polly[/name_f] is still wonderful. It should be used more.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Polly[/name_f]! It’s bouncy and sweet but also feels a bit prim and proper - in the best way
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Afton[/name_f] is lovely, though [name_f]Afton[/name_f] feels a lot more modern and tailored than many of the other options on your list or the middle names in your signature.
I really like [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Amabel[/name_f], [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Augusta[/name_f], [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Jemima[/name_f], [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] and [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. Would also love [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] but [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] feels a bit toooo soft and vintage to me together with sweet [name_f]Polly[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Polly[/name_f], and its great to see that lover shared! Personally I think a short, sweet name like [name_f]Polly[/name_f] needs a long and elegant middle, like [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]/[name_f]Catherine[/name_f], Magdelena, [name_u]Julianne[/name_u] (etc)
I love [name_f]Polly[/name_f]!! Though [name_f]Afton[/name_f] isn’t my style, I think [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Afton[/name_f] has a nice ring to it. You do have a nice list of combos!
Roly polies didn’t come to mind for me because the pronunciation difference but I can definitely see that being an association for some people.
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] Pocket was actually my favorite toy (the cute compacts from the early 90’s) when I was a tiny thing so it’s a really positive association for me.
