is poppy a stretch from persephone? workable?
i just love persephone and i love poppy and really want it to work so i’m biased 
what do you think?
It works. There’re names with an even bigger stretch so why not.

It works! I don’t think nicknames have to be obvious, and I really like [name_f]Poppy[/name_f].

It’s a big stretch, but I love both [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], so I think it’s workable and you should absolutely do it. Plus, if it’s just a family nickname, it doesn’t even need to be related to her full name. [name_f]My[/name_f] mum calls me [name_f]Flower[/name_f], and my dad calls me [name_u]Kit[/name_u], neither of which are related to my real name - they just work.

I personally feel like nicknames have a lot of wiggle room. [name_f]My[/name_f] nickname is [name_m]Chip[/name_m]/Chippy amongst my family and it has absolutely nothing to do with my actual name. You might want one that is slightly more intuitive if the child will be using it in public. However, I’ve met plenty of people who go by nicknames that are quite a stretch from their given name and I’ve never thought twice about it. [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] actually feel much more intuitive than some other names I’ve heard! If she introduced herself as “[name_f]Persephone[/name_f], but you can call me [name_f]Poppy[/name_f],” I doubt anyone would bat an eye.
