Sooo… my [name_m]Beau[/name_m] and I were talking about using [name_f]Elise[/name_f] (family name) as an MN, and we both really like it… I then preceded to fall in love with the combination [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f], but [name_m]Beau[/name_m] is somewhat un-receptive to [name_f]Poppy[/name_f].
What do you think of [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]? To old fashioned? Or do I persist at twisting his arm?
Any thoughts on other options for [name_f]Elise[/name_f] as a MN? (Looking for cute, unique, and feminine names)
I like [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]! I don’t love it and I don’t think it ages well. I can imagine a cute 3 year old called [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] but not a 45 year old married, with a job and kids of her own.
[name_f]Elise[/name_f] works as a mn for [name_f]Poppy[/name_f].
Have you though about other flower names?
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] or [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]

[name_f]Posey[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] (similar to [name_f]Poppy[/name_f])

[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] (I know a [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] that goes by [name_f]Poppy[/name_f])

[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] (too similar too [name_f]Elise[/name_f])

I have mixed feelings about [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. I look at it, and think its sweet and adorable. But then I hear or see it on a child and I think…oh. Like the above poster said, its a very juvenile, nicknamey name and probably wont age very well. That being said, it is a popular name at the moment so she would ageing along with other [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]'s. If you like the name, I guess go for it.
I think [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is beautiful and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] slightly hinders it a bit. Something more classic, perhaps [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f], would be nicer. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is lovely too!
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is adorable, [name_f]IMO[/name_f], and I like it a lot. It’s a bit cutesy though, but it deserves more love, and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is very pretty!
I like [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] in theory, but I agree that it sounds juvenile or overly cutesy. It also sounds like an old-fashioned nickname for a grandpa.
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is a guilty pleasure name for me. I love it, but I’d never use it. I think it’s cute, fun, trendy, and hipster. I would never use it because my close uncle is “[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]” to his grandkids. It would be weird at family gatherings to hear [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] in reference to a future daughter and also my uncle.
Why not!!! If people name their daughters [name_u]Kenzie[/name_u] and [name_f]Maci[/name_f] why not [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]!?!? [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is adorable on a little girl for sure but I’ve never met a grown [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] so for all we know it works just fine. I think you daughter will grow into just about any name you could give her.
Thanks for all your thoughts, lovelies. Seems to be a bit of contention though [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] really seems to be a ‘love it or hate it’ name. I totally get what some of you are saying in terms of it being " cutesy" - I don’t think I had every thought of it that way, but then I do love it for it’s adorable-factor. As for the “it’s not an adults name” - is it really any different to [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or such?
Other names on our list are: ([name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]) “[name_f]Evie[/name_f]” [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_u]Harmony[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] - so you can see why I feel that [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] would fit nicely.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the idea of [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. Very pretty. [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is also on our list as a possible first or middle somewhere (also a family name).
I really like [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and I think it is an all around lovely name. I know a couple- one is about 7, the other is about 19 now, and I think it ages really well. [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is a beautiful combination and I’d be very excited to meet one.
Hmmm… I like the idea of maybe another flower name… just not sure which. I am leaning towards [name_f]Posey[/name_f] or [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], I think. I just really like the P-sound first name with [name_f]Elise[/name_f].
[name_f]Pippa[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is cute, and still works with [name_u]Baby[/name_u]'s last name (which is Greek, so getting things to flow is a great feat).
From your list of older names, [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] stands out to me the most, but I don’t know that I love it. [name_m]Just[/name_m] not quite the right flow…
