"Popular girl" names

Did the cool girls at your school have stereotypical “cool girl” names or did they have “regular” names? If they had “cool girl” names, what were they?

In some schools, they all just happen to have “cool girl” names which I find funny because is it a coincidence or like, did their parents know they were going to be popular and thought “we better give her a pretty, cool girl name” hahaha.

I think in my school a lot of the popular girls were named [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], [name_u]Gabby[/name_u], and [name_f]Megan[/name_f]. It could definitely just have to do with those being popular names for my age group though.

Actually, the popular kids at my school didn’t really have popular names. There was a [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], & a [name_f]Nicole[/name_f], But there was also a [name_f]Sabine[/name_f], [name_f]Anaya[/name_f], & [name_f]Asha[/name_f] (Ash)

In middle school, they were named Hannah, Ellie, Annie, Riley… not super original :joy:

I’m not entirely sure what a ‘cool’ girl name is…but I find that generally, the ‘popular’ girls have the popular names of the time. In my own experience (born in the late 80’s and thus being the popular names of that time here in Australia) those girls names were [name_f]Megan[/name_f], [name_f]Vanessa[/name_f], [name_f]Katrina[/name_f], [name_f]Samantha[/name_f], [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], [name_f]Kristy[/name_f], Tamara…

I think they just had popular names of the time rather than particularly “cool” names… [name_f]Amanda[/name_f], [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f] etc.

I thought the coolest names at my school were ones that are quite popular now… e.g. [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Pippa[/name_f].

Most of the “popular” girls just had very common names for the time and for the area/community. Many had the more recognizable Biblical names (Mary, [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], [name_u]Maria[/name_u], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], etc) or names that are dated now.

Cool girls were… [name_f]Stefani[/name_f], multiple Ashleys of course, [name_f]Cara[/name_f], [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], [name_f]Jenna[/name_f], [name_f]Kiersten[/name_f], multiple Erins, [name_u]Courtney[/name_u], [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], [name_f]Rachel[/name_f], [name_u]Gabbi[/name_u], [name_f]Libby[/name_f], [name_u]Leslie[/name_u], [name_f]Nicole[/name_f], Kaileigh… The most unique one was a girl named L!an, who was half Filipino. I guess some were “cool girl” names and some were just regular names?

The popular girls at my school had very basic names (Alison, [name_f]Beth[/name_f], [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f], [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_f]Krystina[/name_f], [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], Zoe…etc). It would’ve been more interesting if they were “cool girl” names!

[name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] and [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u] sound like “cool girl” names to me lol.

“Multiple Ashleys of course” lol.

When I was in elementary/middle/high school we had a mix. Common/familiar/trendy ones like Caroline, Alexis, Maddie, and McKenna. There was a popular Mic@h (g) and we had a T@bitha who came for the UK (having a British accent gets you very far in the minds of elementary schoolers).

Now, in college, funnily enough there’s a Bea (bay-uh) and a Bea (bee) who are both pretty popular. But it’s more all over the place both in terms of names and in terms of who the cool people are.

The most common name amongst the popular girls at my school was definitely [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. There weren’t even any close seconds, I swear there were at least 5 Ellie’s in my classes alone!

I would say mostly common names among the popular girls when I was growing up (lots of Kelseys, Ashleys, Laurens, and Jessicas- Katies and Beccas too) but then also a sprinkling of the less common but trendy/edgy names of the time (like boys names on girls such as Cody and Devon.) There were only two girls named Cody in my high school of about 800 students, both were in my grade and both were super popular.
