What names or nicknames do you remember there being multiples of in your classroom when you were a kid?
I actually can’t remember very many. [name_m]Just[/name_m] [name_f]Katie[/name_f], [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], [name_u]Michael[/name_u] (oh so many Michaels), [name_m]Justin[/name_m].
Mikaela (et. al), [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], [name_f]Brianna[/name_f], [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] & [name_u]Aja[/name_u] were super popular for girls, and for boys, [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_u]Michael[/name_u] & [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]! But I substitute teach in a high school now and you would not believe the number of Caydens (spelling et. al) and Logans there are-- boys and girls!
Emma is the most popular name in my year, and [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_u]Max[/name_u], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] are also very common! There are also two Johannas in my class.
I looked through my yearbook from last year for my high school of around 750-800 students. The most popular girls names were [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] (any spelling), and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. The most popular boys names were [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Ian[/name_m], and [name_u]Michael[/name_u].
There have been sooo many [name_f]Emma[/name_f]’s, [name_f]Ella[/name_f]’s, and [name_f]Emily[/name_f]’s in my classes/at sports and activities. There have also been several [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]’s and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]’s.
For boys I can’t think of very many overwhelmingly popular names, but [name_m]Luke[/name_m], [name_u]Liam[/name_u], and [name_m]John[/name_m] turn up a lot. [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] probably wins the prize for most common.
Claire, [name_f]Emily[/name_f] (which is my name incidentally, in my senior class there were 5 Emilys), [name_m]Justin[/name_m], [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] (which is my middle name), [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], [name_f]Jennifer[/name_f], [name_f]Keira[/name_f], [name_u]Michael[/name_u] and oddly there were two Mishas (a boy and a girl) which was odd in that time
There was a point in junior high where we had two Holly Elizabeths in my grade. I go to a VERY small Christian school (104 kids in total for K4-12th this year), so it was weird
We’ve had our bounty of Jameses, and there are three Charlies/Charleses in one grade (there are two grades per class.) There are currently two Evelyns- one in elementary and one in high school. There was a point where we had four Daniels- and a James Daniel.
From ages 3-6, I lived in Kansas, so I spent the majority of my kindergarten experience there (Jackson County). I remember there was a Carly, a Karlee, and I believe a Charly (unsure of spelling; pronounced the same). There was a Melodie and a Melody, as well as three Alex’s.
When we moved back up to Wisconsin, I completed the last month of kindergarten and went all the way through second grade in a local public elementary school. There was a time of a boy Caden and a girl Kayden in my class; and there was a Khloe and three Chloe’s in my grade/class.
Wow much better to be known as [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] A. or [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] B. than boy [name_m]Caden[/name_m] or girl [name_u]Kayden[/name_u]
I went to a big school but probably the most…[name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_u]Alex[/name_u] (girls and boys), [name_u]Ryan[/name_u], [name_u]Chris[/name_u], [name_m]Matt[/name_m], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
In primary school, I knew 3 Luke’s, 2 Liam’s and 2 Elise’s.
I went to a very multicultural high school so the most popular names were Asia and Sadia (with various spellings) for girls, and Abdul and Mohammed/Mohammad for boys
