Porn Star has the name we like???

So, we liked the name [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. However, when googled we found there is a porn star with this name…

We also like the name [name]Isla[/name] [name]Rose[/name] but wonder if people in the US could prounouce it correctly…EYE-LA.

We have alot of family in [name]Ireland[/name] and the UK and they wouldn’t have a problem with [name]Isla[/name], but the baby would spend alot of time in the US.

Thoughts??? It’s a little off putting to us that there is a porn star called [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. :???:

What? Porn star named [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name]? [name]Ava[/name] is currently in Top 10 and [name]Rose[/name] in #1 middle name for a girl. There are millions of [name]Ava[/name] Roses in the world, does a porn star matter?
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is a very It-name, popular and short so it’s hard to ger wrong with it. If you wanted to name your girl [name]Dita[/name] or [name]Mata[/name], that will matter, but [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name]? Not so much.
And, plus, who knows porn actresses? People who watch porn. I am sure the people you girl will grow up among won’t even thought about it so they won’t know.
[name]Isla[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is much prettier [name]IMO[/name] but if you are worried about the pn, what about [name]Ayla[/name]?

However, if you have the same last name with that woman, I advice to find other name.

I don’t think you’ll have a problem with [name]Isla[/name] in the US because of actress [name]Isla[/name] [name]Fischer[/name]. It’s a beautiful name.

I can see why a porn star named [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name] would put you off the name, but unless you planned on calling her [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name] all the time (I’m assuming this is first and middle, not a double-barrel first) I doubt anyone would make the connection. I never would have made the connection without you pointing it out, but then I don’t really watch those ‘films’ and wouldn’t have recognized it anyway.

Honestly though, my biggest problem with [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is that it’s a little generic. Unless [name]Rose[/name] has personal meaning for you guys, it’s sort of a “filler” middle, kwim?

Maybe you could go with [name]Aveline[/name] [name]Rose[/name] and call her [name]Ava[/name]? As far as I know it’s pronounced AV-uh-line, like [name]Adeline[/name] with a V. You could do the same with [name]Aviana[/name] [name]Rose[/name], [name]Avis[/name] [name]Rose[/name], [name]Aviva[/name] [name]Rose[/name], or [name]Avery[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. You could still call her [name]Ava[/name] with all of those if [name]Ava[/name] is really the name you love! Good luck!

I agree with this completely! [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is beautiful. I can’t speak for everyone of course, but I imagine most people wouldn’t know there’s a porn actress named [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. If anything, the first [name]Ava[/name] people might think of is [name]Ava[/name] [name]Gardner[/name], or perhaps a relative named [name]Ava[/name].

I also adore [name]Isla[/name] [name]Rose[/name], although I agree that the pronunciation might be an issue. But I agree with @greyer- with [name]Isla[/name] [name]Fisher[/name], I think more people might pronounce it correctly.

I agree with the previous posts. [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is way too generic for me. I would associate it more that way than even think of the possibility of it being a porn actress’ name. [name]Isla[/name] [name]Rose[/name] would work here in the US just fine. Maybe not all parts of it, but certainly in major cities.

[name]Both[/name] names are great! If you like [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name] the best, go with that one. For heaven’s sake, don’t let a porn star with the same name hold back your decision. (That’s not even her real name, probably) No one in their right mind will put two and two together. Kids in school will have no clue. And just because someone has the same name, it doesn’t mean they are the same person and do the same things. If that makes sense! Plus, the porn star probably won’t even be in the business in a few years - and if she is, no one will want to watch her because she’ll be “old” and “outdated.” Haha! [name]Remember[/name], not everyone watches porn. I know I don’t! But all names, though, are associated with good and bad things. Keep yours positive! You seriously have nothing to worry about!

Good luck!!

I came across the same problem with [name]Vivian[/name] [name]Ivy[/name]! I think [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is a beautiful name and I don’t think anyone would associate it with a porn star. Besides, porn stars use nom de plumes just like authors or actors, and just because they chose a profession that is offensive to many doesn’t mean they lack intelligence or taste. For example, [name]Sasha[/name] [name]Grey[/name] took the last name from her favorite book, The Picture of [name]Dorian[/name] [name]Grey[/name]. FYI…I only know this because I saw her in an interview. I’m not actually a fan of this type of entertainment.

Unless your last name is the same also, I wouldn’t worry about it.

I agree with this.

Agreed, because [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is not an uncommon combination, I can’t imagine anyone would make that association! Now if there were a porn star named [name]Tallulah[/name] [name]June[/name] and you decided to use that combo, it might haunt you a little more.

[name]Isla[/name]…I always want to say “No problem!” because of [name]Isla[/name] [name]Fisher[/name], but I heard her introduced as “izz-luh” on a talk show last month and started to wonder if that’s really the case. I don’t think it’s a huge deal though, people will get it and [name]Isla[/name] is moving up in popularity which will help.

I prefer [name]Ava[/name] to [name]Isla[/name].

[name]Ava[/name] has sooooo been done. You can’t turn around without meeting yet another little [name]Ava[/name]. It is pretty, but I would go with [name]Isla[/name]. I don’t think I would worry about the whole porn star thing. Its not like you are naming her [name]Candy[/name] Bottoms or something ridiculous.

I’m pretty much just agreeing with previous posters here: I think [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is generic enough that no one will associate it with a porn star–but that’s kind of too generic. [name]Isla[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is an equally lovely and less ubiquitous alternative.

My mums friend is [name]Ila[/name]. No issues in saying that. Hehe we also googled our daughters name to make sure there were no porn stars with that name…

[name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is such a common combo, that it really doesn’t matter if there’s a porn star with the name. No one is calling her by [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name], just [name]Ava[/name]. (I’m assuming)

I like [name]Isla[/name] [name]Rose[/name] a lot more considering that [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is so over done.

If you google my name you will also find that there are several “adult entertainers” that are called “[name]Cassandra[/name]” - and that is a pretty standard name and has never effected me or my career aspirations.

[name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is lovely and quite popular - no one will be associating your daughter with the porn star, trust me. If it was a super unique, one of a kind name - then I could see an issue, but with [name]Ava[/name], you won’t ever have a problem.

This happened to me too! I loved [name]Jameson[/name] for a girl, but realized the [name]Jenna[/name] [name]Jameson[/name] reference might be a future embarrassment. Here’s the thing though…[name]Jenna[/name] [name]Jameson[/name] is a billion dollar industry. She’s the only porn star I can actually name, or would know to see on a gossip website. Unless this [name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is the future [name]Jenna[/name] [name]Jameson[/name], I don’t think you have anything to worry about. Two perfectly nice names together that an adult entertainer happens to expropriate are different than giving your child a name that is unique to pornography. For example, nameberry lists “[name]Jazlyn[/name]” as being attributed to a porn actress. It’s too unique of a name (read: made up) to ditch that association.

Wait! Its not pronounced “iz-lah” – I have never heard it pronounced "eye-lah"on US television.

Nope, it’s definitely eye-lah.

Ees-lah would be a Spanish pronunciation. This is the reason we scratched it from our list. My fiance is Mexican and he would insist on the ees-lah pronunciation while I would say it eye-lah, better to avoid the whole thing for us lol.

[name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is so popular, I don’t think anyone except avidly obsessed porn-watchers would make the leap.
[name]One[/name] of my best friends has the same name as a porn star (first and last) and nobody’s ever mentioned it, but she’s brought it up and thinks it’s hilarious. Not a big deal, I don’t think.
[name]Ava[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is lovely! I definitely prefer [name]Ava[/name] to [name]Isla[/name], too.
