Hey so I’m very much anxious about everything in my pregnancy so it would be much appreciated if anyone had positive stories. Particularly if you had an NIPT that came back with not enough fetal DNA the first time but did the second time. [name_f]Or[/name_f] maybe both didn’t come back with enough but you still had a healthy baby.
Someone close to me had an abnormal NIPT but wound up having a completely healthy baby! I hear that happens all the time too. Those tests aren’t super duper reliable so try not to stress too much about it. I know she did stress a lot about it, and it was all for not since her baby is clear of genetic abnormalities. If you get an abnormal result, it is not definitive that there’s a chromosomal abnormality!
Everything except a one artery umbilical cord looks normal on the ultrasound and the one artery cord doesn’t indicate anything negative on its own without any other abnormalities on the ultrasound. The next step would be amniocentesis and I’m simply not going to risk my baby for information that won’t change my decision on continuing the pregnancy
I don’t blame you for that, I wouldn’t either. [name_f]My[/name_f] loved one didn’t either, just not worth it. Sometimes I think these tests cause more stress than they’re worth for a lot of people! I wish you the very best and I’m sure everything with baby is alright ![]()
This is my 5th pregnancy and I only have one daughter to show for it, so just about everything makes me feel a sense of doom ![]()
I figured since I asked for positive Pregnancy Stories I’d share that mine, so far, is ending happily! The NIPT came back low risk for everything and since the ultrasound looks absolutely normal, I’m guessing everything is perfectly okay. I have a 16 week check up, and a 20 week ultrasound, which is going to be around 21 weeks because I’m 20 weeks on Thanksgiving day! So fingers crossed that everything looks great for that ultrasound too!
Didn’t have NIPT done (only my first pregnancy at 31 and insurance doesn’t cover until 35 mostly) but I loved pregnancy! I felt pretty good and it was decently textbook. Postpartum was waaaay harder for me than pregnancy but it was my first child so we’ll see!
[name_f]My[/name_f] friend (who was over 40) had NIPT come back high risk for T21 (Down Syndrome), her ultrasounds came back also showing high risk for T21. She didn’t get actual diagnostic tests done after screening positive. Her baby was born with the regular amount of chromosomes:)
