^^ Honestly, I think it’s more a general comfort level thing than anything else. The internet has not been around long enough for people to figure out what could and could not possibly lead to privacy issues (of any substance), so most tend to err on the side of caution. [name]Even[/name] though I can’t think of one tangible reason why it weirds me out, it does.
The only thing I can think is that if your child has an usual name, it would be possibly upsetting to see others criticize it on an online forum – but this is regardless of whether they are looking at a list that happens to be your actual KID. If I share my child’s name, that’s voluntary, and I can also have control over whether criticism is welcome. If someone else posts it and I later find said post, I can imagine I might feel a bit violated, whether that’s fair/warranted or not.
So in the end it may be totally harmless, really, it’s just the thought of it is a bit creepy.
