Prairie?

What are your opinions on [name_f]Prairie[/name_f]?

What associations do you have with it (there’s a particular show that Im wondering if anyone remembers)?

What are your opinions on [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Afton[/name_f], or what other middles would you pair with it?

I think it works in modern day although it does remind me a bit of [name_f]Laura[/name_f] Ingalls [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] (I grew up in the midwest though so we had LIW days at school lol). However, I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing.

[name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Afton[/name_f] is intriguing although I think to me they’re slightly vibe mismatched. [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] is very boho and [name_f]Afton[/name_f] comes off as old money.

Don’t hate them together though. Maybe [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Allaire[/name_f] instead?

I think [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] is so sweet! It’s not my personal style, but I’ve always found it to be very cute, with the loveliest sunny spring imagery. I don’t have any associations, I’ve never heard of anyone actually named [name_f]Prairie[/name_f]!

[name_f]Afton[/name_f] is NMS but I think the flow is nice! I like the idea of using a more sleek & serious name with [name_f]Prairie[/name_f], which definitely isn’t too cutesy but it is still quite cute. But I’d maybe use something a little less unisex, since it feels like a pretty different style? I’d probably go for a classic or otherwise safe middle, something like [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Camille[/name_f], [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], etc.!

[name_f]My[/name_f] opinion? I’m not a fan of word names, so [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] isn’t my personal cup of tea

Associations? Picture a cow eating grass in a wide field on a bright sunny day that is so hot you feel your skin cooking, with no trees in sight and perfect green grass stretching past the horizon, the smell is either freshly mowed grass or perhaps petrichor. Yeah, that scene you just imagine is my association/first thought when i hear the [name_f]Prairie[/name_f].

[name_f]Afton[/name_f] is a bit on the nose for me,

  1. Because I was FNAF kid.
  2. It doesn’t really sound feminine enough to me to pair with [name_f]Prairie[/name_f].

If I had to pick a middle name to go with it I’d probably say [name_f]Donna[/name_f], [name_f]Snow[/name_f], [name_f]Fae[/name_f], [name_f]Ann[/name_f], or something of the like. Think modern and or 1/2 syllable count names

[name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] is actually whats on my list!

But [name_f]Afton[/name_f] gives me similar vibes as [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] (think the ‘sweet afton’ poem) so I was just wondering if I threw them together if it’d work. But it seems most people get a more modern/less naturey vibe from [name_f]Afton[/name_f].

The OA association is my biggest hesitation on this name. I wasnt a huge fan personally (not that I disliked it, just never got into it) and I worry most people are going to associate it with that and think we named her that because of the show, when in reality I’ve never really seen the show, I just like the name!

[name_f]Prairie[/name_f] feels outdoorsy, breezy and slightly wild - but there’s something sweet and pretty about it too.

It reminds me of [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Cather[/name_f] novels :person_shrugging: I feel like you’re thinking of [name_m]Little[/name_m] House on the Prairie??? - I’ve never watched it, but have heard of it.

[name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Afton[/name_f] is nice and I think i like the vibes - something rugged, connected-to-the-earth about it, however it feels a tiny bit like a place name to me, a book or show title, the name someone’s given their small hold…sorry! not sure if that’s just me though!

[name_f]Prairie[/name_f] is an adorable name! I don’t know if I’d ever use it irl, it’s always been more of a GP for me, but I’d be thrilled to meet someone named [name_f]Prairie[/name_f].
I’ve been rewatching [name_m]Little[/name_m] House On the [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] recently, so that’s my first association. [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Afton[/name_f] has a good flow, and I actually think the naturey vibes match, but I will say that I love [name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] even more!

such a sweet name! I’d associate it with little house on the prairie, but that’s a sweet connection to have, I think. I also envision a vast, wild prairie that makes me want to learn to fly!

[name_f]Prairie[/name_f] [name_f]Afton[/name_f] sounds beautiful! The only drawback I’d mention would be that both names are associated with places–it could be a little too place-heavy. That being said, I think it has such a beautiful rhythm!

A few other ideas–

It reminds me of [name_m]Little[/name_m] House on the [name_f]Prairie[/name_f], one room school houses, meadows, dairy cows, etc. I like the imagery, but I have a hard time picturing it on a real kiddo.
