We’re having trouble finding a name for our second. The name we chose for her older brother happens to have the same initial as mine ([name_m]Lucas[/name_m]) so we wanted to follow the trend and have hers the same initial as my husband.
We thought of [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]/[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f]/[name_f]Suzette[/name_f] but not crazy about any of them. I do sentimentally like [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] and [name_f]Suzette[/name_f] since it means “lily,” which is my mum’s favorite flower, but it doesn’t feel right somehow. [name_u]Love[/name_u] that it has a feminine symbol.
Would be perfect as a two-syllable name, and it’s really important to us that it’s a name that feels classic and familiar (old, even), not trendy, and will not be misspelled or mispronounced. It would also be sweet for it to sound good with [name_m]Lucas[/name_m].
[name_f]Non[/name_f]-S names that we like are:
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]/[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Mila[/name_f]/[name_f]Mira[/name_f]
[name_f]Millie[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
Thank you in advance, looking forward to your creative ideas!
Solid list already, of these I like with [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]: [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_u]Simone[/name_u], [name_f]Sally[/name_f] and [name_f]Summer[/name_f]. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is pretty but quite hip right now!
There’s also [name_f]Satine[/name_f], [name_f]Susan[/name_f], [name_f]Sara[/name_f] (Saarah), [name_f]Selma[/name_f], [name_f]Sistine[/name_f] or [name_u]Sydney[/name_u], but most not quite in the old and familiar camp.
First thought… [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]!! Yes, I love the name [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], but I think it goes great with [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] :).
Other suggestions that I like…
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Sabine[/name_f]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Sally[/name_f]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Summer[/name_f]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Sara[/name_f]
Other ideas…
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_u]Sierra[/name_u]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Selah[/name_f]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Soraya[/name_f]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Samara[/name_f]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Sienna[/name_f]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_u]Sasha[/name_u]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_u]Skylar[/name_u]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_u]Skye[/name_u]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Sabina[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] would be a perfect fit with [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], plus it gives that familiar, sort of vintage vibe while still having some spunk and freshness like [name_f]Millie[/name_f]/[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]/[name_f]Nora[/name_f] from your list.
Would you consider [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]? I know it’s 3 syllables, but I think it’s a great nod to the [name_f]Susan[/name_f]/[name_f]Suzanne[/name_f]/[name_f]Suzette[/name_f] tribe while feeling a little fresher. [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] would be a really great sib-set!
I’ve always had a soft spot for the name [name_f]Susan[/name_f], it’s so elegant and classic imo.
There’s also [name_u]Sloane[/name_u], [name_f]Stacie[/name_f], [name_f]Sandra[/name_f], [name_f]Sharon[/name_f], [name_f]Sally[/name_f] and [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f].
This doesn’t start with an S, but what about Cynthia?
I like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] for you, from the posts already listed. [name_f]Selah[/name_f] is also a favorite of mine that pairs well with [name_m]Lucas[/name_m].
I came to suggest [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] and I like the suggestion of [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], too. [name_u]Love[/name_u] Savvy & [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] together!
You’ve got some good suggestion already. I just wanted to suggest the more formal and less trendy ‘[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]’ I think it’s every bit as beautiful as [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] while feeling more traditional and more in line with the other names on your list.
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] and [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] are perfect! Or, you could soften [name_f]Suzette[/name_f]/[name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] to [name_f]Susette[/name_f] or [name_f]Susanne[/name_f].
Sarabella or Saria are both beautiful. Familiar and easily pronounced but not common.
[name_f]Sally[/name_f] isn’t too common but it’s cute and classic!
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] are elegant.
[name_f]Serena[/name_f]/[name_f]Selena[/name_f] have been suggested by others, but I second those. [name_f]Serena[/name_f] and [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] are a lovely sibset.
[name_f]Sonora[/name_f] isn’t SUPER common but it’s not out-there and it’s easily spelled/said. The nickname [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] makes this adorable.
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f] is a fav of mine. Also like [name_f]Savannah[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Serena[/name_f].
I used to be a [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] fan but it has lost its luster for me. [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] feels fresher, I think it’s quite cute used in a double-barrel name.
Ohmigoodness these are fantastic! Thank you so much for all the input, what an amazing community this is.
I don’t know how I’d not thought of [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], it’s such a classic. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]/[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is also great, but wondering if [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] sounds too formal? I love [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] but it’s my best friends’ dog’s name so I’ve had to nix it.
Hadn’t thought about softening the z with s, love that! It’ll definitely be on the list. And I hadn’t thought of [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] which is so so pretty.
Now I am obsessed with the idea of [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] as a nickname and will pursue that route in a separate thread.
Thank you all so much for your ideas! It’s revitalized our search and my husband and I had a fun time reading through them all!
