What do you think of the names [name]Prisca[/name] and [name]Priscilla[/name]? [name]Prisca[/name] is a prominent lady in the New Testament, and she was referred to as [name]Priscilla[/name] as an affectionate nickname (which is opposite of what one might think). [name]Do[/name] you like one or both?

Personally - I absolutely adore [name]Prisca[/name], and can’t STAND [name]Priscilla[/name]! I guess I’m weird? My husband doesn’t like either one and he already has a cousin [name]Priscilla[/name] anyway, but I think that [name]Prisca[/name] is such a crisp and sophisticated name, while [name]Priscilla[/name] just seems simpering to me.
I think [name]Prisca[/name] [name]Juliana[/name] is lovely. 
I like [name]Priscilla[/name] better - nn [name]Prisca[/name], even though it’s the opposite. I didn’t realize that [name]Prisca[/name] is the original name, and I’m guessing most other people won’t either.
I prefer [name]Priscilla[/name]. I need to bone up on my bible reading, clearly, because I was not aware that there was a [name]Prisca[/name]. Is the sc pronounced as a soft c like [name]Priscilla[/name]? Or is it more like [name]Pris[/name]-ka?
We were seriously considering [name]Prisca[/name] at one point for our daughter. I really like it, much more so than [name]Priscilla[/name]. Agree 100% with the previous poster that it’s crisper and more sophisticated. (Pronounced Priska, and also spelled that way in several N. European countries, where it’s more common than here.)
I would say the only downside of the shorter version is while both [name]Prisca[/name] and [name]Priscilla[/name] are almost certain to be called Priss/[name]Prissy[/name] by someone at some point (and I deeply dislike those nicknames), a [name]Priscilla[/name] at least has the option of [name]Cilla[/name], which I do like very much.

I thought Pri (long E sound) might be a sweet nickname for either. And I always thought it was [name]PRIS[/name]-ka, but could be wrong as I have never known someone with that name in real life
It’s with a hard c/k sound - at least the only [name]Prisca[/name] I’ve ever known pronounced it that way. A soft sound would be much less attractive for me - Prissa? Yuck.
[name]Prisca[/name] is a long time favorite of mine! I also like [name]Priscilla[/name] but [name]Prisca[/name] is a bit more fresh. [name]Prisca[/name] [name]Juliana[/name] is gorgeous!
I love [name]Prisca[/name], dislike [name]Priscilla[/name]. If I was thinking about using it I would definitely worry about the “[name]Prissy[/name]” comments she might run into.

I think both run a bit prissy. However, [name]Priscilla[/name] is very fetishy to me because in my hometown there is a sex shoppe called [name]Priscilla[/name]'s - it is so successful that it has two locations. Also [name]Priscilla[/name] [name]Queen[/name] of the Desert is about transvestites. It’s just not usable, to me. I’d stick with [name]Prisca[/name].

I love [name]Portia[/name] (which doesn’t have such a pretty meaning and some people would think was [name]Porsche[/name] after the car) and [name]Drusilla[/name]/[name]Druscilla[/name] which most people do not like but I love, yet I can’t quite warm to [name]Priscilla[/name]. I think it’s the “prissy” thing, Miss Priss is an insult, etc.
I think I like [name]Priscilla[/name] better than [name]Prisca[/name] but only because [name]Cilla[/name] is an okay nickname. I still like [name]Druscilla[/name] more, sorry, [name]Dru[/name] is easier to wear than Priss with both having the option of [name]Cilla[/name] either way. And it’s also New Testament I believe?

I thought someone wrote out the phonetic spelling, but it is [name]PRIS[/name]-ka.
We have kind of a biblical theme with our children [name]Jacob[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Elijah[/name], [name]Anna[/name], and [name]Sadie[/name] is the only one not completely biblical but her name is derived from [name]Sarah[/name]. I really like the name [name]Prisca[/name] but I am not sure if I am daring enough to use it. [name]Priscilla[/name] is cute too.
