I’ve been meaning to start this thread for a while now! If you’ve named a character or sorted out a story issue via Nameberry and want to share the finished product with us, feel free to post below and I’ll add the link of your story to this list.
I don’t actually have a blog and haven’t started writing my story yet, but I wanted to say that Nameberry has helped a lot with the names of my characters. The idea I have for a story is very complex; there are many characters that need names. Without this website, I wouldn’t have found the name [name_f]Carys[/name_f] for my main character, much less any other characters!
My pen name, [name_f]Eleni[/name_f] [name_f]Maria[/name_f] M-----, would be nonexisistent if it weren’t for Nameberry. I owe a LOT to [name_f]Pam[/name_f] and [name_f]Linda[/name_f] and all the other wonderful people who helped create Nameberry.
Like eleni, I owe a lot to Nameberry. Without it, I’d be at a total loss for names for my characters.
I’d create a blog myself, I’m just worried about plagerizers stealing my work. Does anyone with their own blog worry about this? Is there any way to prevent it from happening?
Redrobin, I read the Danish terms and conditions on blogspot, where it says: “Whatever you post as yours, is still yours.” that is the only reason why I started mine.
I’m not worried about plagiarism because I have all the original dates on my computer and all the time stamps and everything so if someone steals my work and tries to get it published, I can stop it from happening.
Also, most publishers (and this is just from my time spent getting this book published), from what I know, check around to see if something has been published before or if you have an online presence with your work (something publishers really like), and if they found it under someone elses name, they would know it wasn’t that persons.
Well, I’ve posted the names in my new novel The Mortal Part to My Lists; I’ve written for nameberry and have used the international sites more than once. I also have to say that I’ve used [name_f]Sherilyn[/name_f] [name_m]Kenyon[/name_m]'s wonderful book on character names as well. You can see the first two chapters of my novel on my web page at themiloverse.boards.net.
I’m in the process of writing a book with my best friend and we need a name for a brother of [name_f]Sophie/name_f and [name_u]Lexie[/name_u] ([name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]) .
You can start your own thread if you want help with names, Skywriter! If you check the ‘help’ thread tacked to the top of the forum you’ll be able to see what sort of information we need to assist you
If anyone’s interested, the story I wrote last [name_u]November[/name_u] is starting to go online! I didn’t ask for help here for this particular story, but I did browse Nameberry for inspiration quite a few times. I have it set so a chapter goes up each day. It should be up in its entirety by [name_u]August[/name_u]. It’s pretty much just draft 1, with only minor edits, but I still wanted to share, so here it is!
I got some surname help here, back around [name_u]March[/name_u]… trouble is, although I finished the game, I wound up not using anyone’s advice, on account of I eventually left the characters’ surnames out altogether. In fact, in the final build I let the player decide what they’d like to call each character, so not even the first names stuck in the end. I kinda feel like it’d be inappropriate to take advantage of this thread, under those circumstances! ^^;
Hey Renrose, I’ve just started a blog, not much on it so far but it’s a start! I have written a lot more but it’s not in a fit state to share at the moment.
