Pronounce Celia

[name]How[/name] do you pronounce the name [name]Celia[/name]?

[name]SEAL[/name]-YA?

SELL-YA?

Since it’s Latin of origin, I’m curious how it’s pronounced around the world.

Sih [name]Lee[/name] Uh
or
[name]Sill[/name] Yuh
or
[name]Seal[/name] Yuh

This is my nickname.

Where I live it’s pronounced [name]SEAL[/name]-YA. [name]Love[/name] this name!

[name]Seal[/name]-ya.

I’m a [name]Pom[/name] living in Australia if that explains it?!

‘see-lee-a’ here  My cousin is a [name]Cecylia[/name] (Polish spelling) and that’s ‘seh-see-lee-a’.

Oh and I’m a northern [name]Brit[/name].

I say it sort of like see-lee-yuh, a definite three syllables to it, and I’ve got a [name]London[/name] accent.

I pronounce it See-lee-iah

[name]Seal[/name]-Ya for me too!

Seh-lee-uh (I know I’m crap at writing pronunciation). I think it’s prettier that way and it’s the pronunciation used by the only [name]Celia[/name] I know.

See-lee-uh - to me ‘ia’ makes a ‘ee-uh’ sound, not a ‘yah’ sound.

I’m in [name]Long[/name] Island, NY.

I pronounce it “Seh- lee-ah” As the Spanish pronounce it, but I prefer it pronounced “See-lee-ah”…

I say see-lee-ah.

See-lee-uh

(Northeast US)

SEE-lee-uh
ETA: I’m in Oklahoma

I think of [name]Amelia[/name] and [name]Cordelia[/name] when I see this so I would pronounce it

[name]Seal[/name]-ya(or yuh)

I say SEE-lee-uh. I think that’s how most [name]East[/name] Coast dwellers would say it? I only know Cecilias, though.

say-lee-ah
I grew up in south [name]Florida[/name] and the only one I’ve ever known of was [name]Celia[/name] [name]Cruz[/name]

Where I live it is said see-[name]LEE[/name]-uh

SEE-lee-uh for me as well, and I’m in the midwestern US.

See-lee-uh or [name]Seel[/name]-ee-uh. Writing the pronunciation is hard! However, I think I pronounce [name]Cecelia[/name] Seh-seal-ya…but I’m not sure because I’m thinking it too hard, so now it sounds funny no matter how I say it! LOL!
