Thank you everyone, this was so much fun reading & listening to! It was especially neat learning how we pronounce names like Fenwick (which has two different correct ways, European & North American) and names like Dorothy (which changes so much with different accents)!
I’ve edit the original post to include how I say them for anyone interested :slight_smile:

@VEL I really liked how you pronounce Ursuline & Ramund!

@tallemaja TBH, I love that you didn’t research them first, it helps seeing how other people would instinctively pronounce them! I also like how you say Dorothy.

@quietosprey Either!

@Greyblue I love how you say Ester, Maude, Ramund, & Soren! ā€œEs-tehā€ is closer to the actual Danish pronunciation than what I usually say. Ester is an honour name for my great-grandmother who was Danish, but went by the ā€œmore Canadianā€ pronunciation after she moved here in the 60’s.

@autumn.leaves I like how you say Dorothy & Alasdair!

@elanorelle I really like how you say Ursuline & so excited that you got the א/x sound in Loch!

@namesleuth23 Really interesting how you say Yggdrasil, kinda want it to be it’s own name!

@lumosmaxima ā€œEgg drizzleā€ :laughing: I don’t think I’ll ever be able to unhear that! But that is pretty much the name! Yggdrasil nn Eggy anyone?

@regionlatbest You got the moon in Ramund! I was also wondering if you say Cairn like Karen or like care+n, all one syllable?

@judy.newstead I love how you say Dorothy & Ursuline! Also love that you got the א/x in Loch, although you’re from Scotland so you probably say it better than me!

@Carys1 Like Greyblue, you say Ester closer to the actual pronunciation (of the person of honour) than I do. Also yeah, Aase & Magda out here with the tricky Danish pronunciations!
