Pronounce Noel?

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Noel[/name_u] as an alternative for [name_u]Noah[/name_u]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you pronounce it like [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] or as if it rhymed with [name_m]Joel[/name_m]?

I pronounce all 3 with the same ending sound:

“no-EL” & “jo-EL”

I pronounce [name_u]Noel[/name_u] as one syllable “nole” rhyming with [name_m]Cole[/name_m] and [name_m]Joel[/name_m] (which I would say “jole”)

However no-el like [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] would not surprise me.

I love both pronunciations! I’d say if I was actually using it, I’d say NOLE, but I love noh-ELL as a gp or character name, and be delighted to meet one irl

I’ve heard it three different ways! [name_m]Nole[/name_m], No-elle, and No-wull. [name_f]My[/name_f] instinct is to pronounce it No-wull

i know the go to english is rhyming with joel, but i don´t love it

i pronounce it somewhat like noelle, but with a different syllabic stress. like daniel vs danielle. so i suppose, joel like daniel?

Rhyming with [name_m]Joel[/name_m] - I’m in the UK and that’s the general way I’ve heard it pronounced here

I know a boy [name_u]Noel[/name_u] and a girl [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], both pronounced noh-EL with second-syllable emphasis. Though instinctively, I would still pronounce [name_u]Noel[/name_u] as NOLE it’s one syllable, as I would [name_m]Joel[/name_m].

NO-əl.

Like it rhymes with [name_m]Joel[/name_m] for us!

[name_u]Noel[/name_u] = nole

[name_u]Noël[/name_u] = no-ELL

Rhymes with [name_m]Joel[/name_m], male name. Like it as that, do not like [name_f]Noelle[/name_f].

I’m in the UK where “nole” is most common, but I know an American one who pronounces it like Noelle and that’s my favourite pronunciation!

For a boy I’ve learned to default to the rhyming with [name_m]Nole[/name_m]. [name_f]Girl[/name_f] I’ll default to [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] pronunciation.

Rhymes with [name_m]Cole[/name_m].

no-ELL for me, nole sounds a little weird because I’ve never met one but I could see it!

I say it rhyming with [name_m]Joel[/name_m] (and mole, pole, Cole)

I rhyme it with Joel!!

no-ELL for me too (As in the [name_u]French[/name_u] word for Christmas)
