I’m just wondering if anyone knows how to pronounce Oenone. My instinct is uh-WEN-on-ee, which I know is wrong, but I have found both eh-EE-own-ee and ee-NO-nee.
I think it’s EE-nuh-nee. (Well, probably technically EE-non-ee, but most people make those o sounds in the Greek ones as a schwa, like [name]Antigone[/name] (anTIGuhnee))
It’s ee-NO-nee (o like in dove).
I studied the classics (Greek mythology) by the way, so I should know.
I’m inclined to pronounce it eh-noh-nee
I have no idea how to prn. it but it reminds me of one of my favorite names, [name]Ione[/name] (eye-o-nee).
Yeah, I have nothing new to add. I’ve always heard ee-NO-nee or EE-no-nee. I love how the name looks, but not so much how it sounds.
ee-NO-nee. Thank you!
yikes.
looks like oh-no-nee
then my mind thinks “[name]Oedipus[/name]”, maybe ehn-oh-nee.
bad all around.
