This is more of a poll.
I’m just wondering if more of you pronounce this with a Win or Wen sound?

More or a win sound
In my head it’s clearly -wen, but when I say it out loud it’s something between -i and -e.
Hmm, I tend to pronounce it Ar-when, as the Wen in [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] :).
I don’t think there would be a noticeable difference between -wen and -win when I say the name out loud but I say it more like -win.
I pronounce it like wen
For me it’s more of a “win” sound I guess, though in my accent there isn’t a huge amount of difference between AR-wen and AR-win (e.g. [name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] and [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f] sound the same to me). I think I would only notice the difference if someone was speaking slowly.
For me it’s more of a “win”
I say it Are-win.
[name_u]Win[/name_u] sound
The [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] I knew while in school used the WIN sound. That is what I still use today.
slightly between a win & wen sound. the way they say it in The [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings!
They’re not way to different in my accent, but I think it’s closer to win for me. Wen sounds more correct, however.
They sound the same in my accent. When and win sound the same. [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] and windy sound the same
I guess if I had to write out how I pronounce it it would be Ar-win.
[name_u]Win[/name_u]
Thankyou!!! I feel like I sway more towards [name_u]Win[/name_u] aswell ,so good to know I havent completely butchered the name
Ehhh the same? [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] and windy are identical when I say them.
it’s Ar-when for me
[name_u]Win[/name_u].
In my dialect, -in and -en are exactly the same, but I would imagine the way I say [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] would probably be like the -in for people who differentiate.
