[name]Do[/name] you pronounce it bee or bee-uh? I want the nn “bee” for [name]Beatrix[/name] but want to make sure the pronunciation makes sense. Should I use the spelling [name]Bee[/name] for clarity?
[name]Hi[/name] there,
I have only ever heard [name]Bea[/name] pronounced “[name]Bee[/name]”.
I would say ‘[name]Bee[/name]’
I had a great aunt we always called ‘Auntie [name]Bea[/name]’ (pr. ‘[name]Bee[/name]’). I know her full name was [name]Beatrice[/name] & was also often called Beatty.
([name]Bee[/name]-tee).
[name]Bea[/name] is “bee,” just like [name]Bee[/name]. But I have seen [name]Beah[/name] - like [name]Leah[/name] - for the [bee-uh] pronunciation!
[name]Lemon[/name]
I have only heard it pronounced “[name]Bee[/name]”. I don’t think many people would call her “[name]Bee[/name]-uh” unless someone has never heard to nn [name]Bea[/name] before (and only if they saw it printed- if you’re going to pronounce it “bee”, then that’s what people will hear and what they will say).
my middle name which i go by is [name_f]Beatriz[/name_f] and my nickname is pronounced “bay-uh” not “bee” When I moved to the states from Europe, it’s been “bee” but I usually correct them to “bay-uh”
I’ve only heard it pronounced “[name_f]Bee[/name_f]” but for some reason I always read it in my head as bee-uh and have to remind myself lol
I’ve only ever heard it as [name_f]Bee[/name_f].
I had only heard “[name_f]Bee[/name_f]” until I met a woman from South [name_u]America[/name_u]. She was “[name_u]BAY[/name_u]-uh”, from [name_f]Beatriz[/name_f] ([name_u]BAY[/name_u]-uh-treece). I think if you’re in the US, most would say “[name_f]Bee[/name_f]” unless they are Spanish-speakers.
I pronounce it like [name_f]Bee[/name_f], and have only ever heard of it as such, so I don’t think it would be too much of a problem.
I’ve only ever heard it pronounced “bee”.
I pronounce it beh-uh
I know a three-year-old [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Bea[/name_f], said “bee.” I always call her [name_f]Trixie[/name_f] though
[name_m]Just[/name_m] like the bee insect. I say it as ‘bee-ah’ in my head but I say [name_f]Bea[/name_f], I don’t know why I read it like that lol.
I also say it like “bee-ah” in my head, but like “[name_f]Bee[/name_f]” out loud, haha.
I have never heard it in real life before, but I have never understood the ‘[name_f]Bee[/name_f]’ pronunciation, it’s all ‘bee-uh’ to me, but most people say ‘[name_f]Bee[/name_f]’
I would assume “bee” and would expect that most English-speakers would do the same. Spanish speakers, as mentioned, pronounce it “bay-uh.” I’m not sure about other languages.
From personal experience, it’s always pronounced [name_f]Bee[/name_f] in English-speaking countries, but amongst Spanish or Italian speakers it’s bay-uh. I think most people will pronounce it the way you want it!
Definitely [name_f]Bea[/name_f] = [name_f]Bee[/name_f]. BTW Fantastic choice of name, [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is my top girls name, I would really love to name a daughter [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]!
