Pronunciation of Maeva and a dilemma!

Having a dilemma!
Prefer the meaning of [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] but the a ending of [name_f]Maeva[/name_f]. Also prefer that with [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] feel a nn could be [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] whereas with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] feel like [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] couldn’t be a nickname.
Prefer the pronunciation of May-vuh. Dislike the pronounciation of [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] when it has the accent on it in [name_u]French[/name_u]. Is this a problem?

I think you’ll be all right. So long as you don’t love in a largely French-speaking country, I think people will tend to go for the MAY-vuh pronunciation. I certainly do (and I’m in the US).

[name_f]Maeva[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is sweet! [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] on her own is also beautiful. I generally prefer [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] on her own, as it feels a little more sturdy, bold, and streamlined.

Thank you! It’s paired with a short one syllable surname starting with C ending in a hard consonant, so I’m on the fence as to whether to go with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] or whether [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] sounds better being two syllables! What do you think?

I have always assumed [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] was may-vuh! If you live somewhere primarily English-speaking I think people will assume may-vuh because of the similarity to [name_f]Maeve[/name_f].

I think both [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] would work perfectly well with your surname. If you want to mix up the amount of syllables, maybe [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] C—?

I would pronounce it May-eh-va upon reading, but i think its an easy correction

I know of a [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] who gets called [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] - so it’s doable (like [name_f]Gracie[/name_f] can be a nn of [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Junie[/name_f] as a nn for June)

I think if you’re outside of a [name_u]French[/name_u] speaking place, most people would pronounce it May-vuh

I love [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] with your surname! A family surname of mine is [name_m]Cobb[/name_m] (and I have cousins with this surname named Gr@ce and J@ck, both strong one-syllable names!), so I’m imagining [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_m]Cobb[/name_m], and I love it!!
