Pronunciation of Samuel

We are considering [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] for our next son, but I have heard different pronunciations for it. We pronounce it two syllables, second syllable sounds like “-well.” [name_m]How[/name_m] do YOU pronounce it?

Note that we will be calling him [name_u]Sam[/name_u] most of the time, so it isn’t a HUGE deal.

[name_u]Sam[/name_u]-yull is how I pronounce it, but either is acceptable I think. GL!

I pronounce it [name_u]Sam[/name_u]-yule or [name_u]Sam[/name_u]-yull

[name_u]Sam[/name_u]-yule. I have never heard it pronounced otherwise.

I say sam-yule.

[name_u]Sam[/name_u]-u-ull is all I"ve ever heard

[name_u]Sam[/name_u]-[name_u]Yule[/name_u] is the pronunciation I’ve heard most often, with the occasional [name_u]Sam[/name_u]-yull.

[name_u]Sam[/name_u]-[name_u]Yule[/name_u] and [name_u]Sam[/name_u]-yull are heard equally, I think.

I pronounce it either like [name_u]Sam[/name_u]-yule or [name_u]Sam[/name_u]-yull though I have heard it pronounce like [name_u]Sam[/name_u]-you-ell

I agree with everyone else. I say sam-yule. I’ve heard sam-yu-el too, but only like twice.

[name_u]Sam[/name_u]-yull as thats how the only just [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] I know pronounces it (he’s five and has decided he wants to be [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] not [name_u]Sam[/name_u] or [name_u]Sammy[/name_u] while the other [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] I know is just [name_u]Sam[/name_u])
