Hello All!
I need some help… I love the nn [name]Tess[/name] or [name]Tessa[/name], but would only consider using it if I could find a proper name for it. The only one I can think of is Contessa, and that is just not working for me. My last name is very Irish. Can anyone think of any other names that have the nn [name]Tess[/name]/a?
Thanks ![]()
[name]Ash[/name]
[name]Teresa[/name]
Tessalie
[name]Thessaly[/name]
[name]Theresa[/name]
[name]Thessaly[/name]
[name]Temperance[/name]
[name]Theodosia[/name]
Terpsichore (no, I’m not sure I recommend it!))
Tethys
[name]Tirzah[/name]
[name]Tamsin[/name]/[name]Thomasina[/name]
[name]Anastasia[/name]
[name]Amethyst[/name]
[name]Constance[/name]
And really, it may be a stretch, but all names with ‘st’ in them could to some degree give the nickname [name]Tess[/name]… It is a stretch though…!
[name]Ad[/name] I have to say I like Contessa the most of all of these, along with maybe [name]Thessaly[/name]. [name]Tamsin[/name]/[name]Thomasina[/name] are also nice as a way to get [name]Tess[/name]/[name]Tessa[/name], but I don’t care for them personally…
I went to school with a [name]Stephanie[/name] who always went by “Stess” apparently her sister couldn’t pronounce [name]Steph[/name] very well. So I realy think anything with a t and a short e sound could be a [name]Tess[/name] if you want
[name]Tiffany[/name], maybe
I actually love the sound of Thesaly, is that a real name?
[name]Thessaly[/name] (spelled like this) is a Greek place name actually! ^^
It’s also the name of a character in [name]Neil[/name] Gaiman’s ‘Sandman’ graphic novels, which is why I love it
[name]Teresa[/name] is the most obvious.
Other ideas:
Marites (Used mostly in the Philippines, this is pronounced mah-[name]REE[/name]-tess)
Tesla
[name]Tempest[/name]
[name]Teresita[/name]
Tessara
Caritas
[name]Theodosia[/name]
[name]Thomasina[/name]
[name]Tomasa[/name]
[name]Anastasia[/name]
[name]Quintessa[/name]
[name]Tennessee[/name] (usually used for a boy but with the popularity of unisex names I think a girl could carry it off)
[name]Treasure[/name]
Good luck!
When I see [name]Tess[/name], I automatically think of [name]Theresa[/name]
Also:
Tessana
Tesla
[name]Tisa[/name]
[name]Teresia[/name]

[name]Thisbe[/name]
[name]Tresa[/name]
[name]Tasha[/name]
[name]Trisha[/name]

[name]Tuesday[/name]
or even:
[name]Natasha[/name]
[name]Stasia[/name]
[name]Fantasia[/name]
[name]Anastasia[/name]
And I loved the suggestion of [name]Tirza[/name] and [name]Tamsin[/name]!
Good luck!
I think [name]Esther[/name] works.
Oh, good call! ![]()
TAETIA pronounced as [name]Teesha[/name] easy to see [name]Tessa[/name] as a nn for Taetia.
Taetia is of Latin origin and it is used mainly in English.
Taetia is a pet form of the English and French [name]Laetitia[/name] in the English language.
I like [name]Tessa[/name] the best!
I vote for [name]Theresa[/name]!
[name]How[/name] about [name]Teressa[/name], a variant of [name]Theresa[/name]?
I knew a girl named Tesslyn.
Very good call. I love [name]Tess[/name], but [name]Tessa[/name] doesn’t go with our last name, and neither [name]Teresa[/name] nor Contessa work for me. [name]Esther[/name] hits the right note as a first name, though, and could feasibly be a “base name” for [name]Tessa[/name] … thank you …
Why not just use [name]Tess[/name]? It’s a legit name, no need to find something to use it for. It’s such a lovely name.
My Mum named me [name]Theresa[/name], well it’s on my birth certificate, but I have been [name]Tess[/name] all my life. I’ve never been known as/called [name]Theresa[/name], and TBH, I really dislike the name [name]Theresa[/name], always have (just my personal opinion of course). Would have preferred if they had of just named me [name]Tess[/name]. But in saying that I haven’t suffered because of it, I just have to keep remembering to use [name]Theresa[/name] when making appointments or signing forms etc (this does irk me slightly though).
My mother is [name]Tessa[/name] and her full name in [name]Teresa[/name], my nana regrets not just calling her [name]Tessa[/name] full stop, it’s a beautiful name in its own right.
I like the suggestions of [name]Esther[/name] and [name]Quintessa[/name] too
