What do you think are the pros and cons? Don’t worry, you won’t hurt my feelings or turn me off the name with any cons!
Pros: Cute name! Easily recognisable and international
Cons: [name_f]May[/name_f] get mistaken to [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] (but I don’t think it’s a huge problem)
Pros - a lovely name that ages well and is easily recognisable, lots of fun nickname choices
Cons - open to lots of spelling errors but the [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] spelling is more of an intuitive choice in my opinion, potentially will be one of many so may have to go by a nickname which isn’t too much of a problem if you have ones you like
aww - isabelle is a beautiful name, congrats !
pros - intuitive sound and spelling, travels and ages well, adaptable for lots of personalities, classic and in consistent use, can find this name on keychains, flows well with many middle names
cons - combined with all spellings it is very popular, or may be mistaken for isabella, likely to be referred to by a nickname, very feminine so may be hard to adapt to a child preferring a more unisex name
Pro:
[name_f]Beautiful[/name_f] name
Multiple nickname choices
Common, but not too popular
[name_u]Con[/name_u]:
[name_f]May[/name_f] be misspelled as [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
Fairly popular (especially when considering the popularity of Isabella)
Potentially a con:
[name_u]Izzy[/name_u] could be hard to avoid if you don’t like it.
Overall I like [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
Pros -elegant, solid, girly, frilly, strong, full of fun nicknames, versatile and sophisticated
Cons - fairly popular if you take into account all the Isabels/Isabellas/Isobels/Izzies, may be spelled differently, has two intuitive nicknames that might get used even if you don’t want them to be
Pros: beautiful, timeless, international
Cons: could be confused with [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
Pros: recognizable, but not overly trendy or popular, many nns (Izzy is my personal fav.), elegant name
Cons: will most likely be mistaken for Isabel/Isabella.
Congrats!
Pros:
There are a lot of nicknames to choose from. (One of my favourites on my list). Easily pronounce. Easily recognizable.
Cons:
I can’t think of any
Yayy! Congratulations!
Pros: Belle is a gorgeous nickname, easy to pronounce, familiar
Cons: very common, lots of possible spellings so hers might get messed up, will likely have to be Isabelle B. (or, imager last name initial) at some point
Congrats!
Pros: Might be biased since it’s also my own long-standing favorite, but I think [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is one of the most beautiful names out there. So elegant, delicate, and sweet. It’s also very international, has a good meaning and a few nickname options.
Cons: The popularity. There will be various other Isabelles/Isabels/Isabellas/Isobels/Belles/Bellas that she’ll know throughout her life, perhaps even in her class.
As my own name is Isabella, I ended up getting called Isabelle a majority of the time. I can imagine a similar thing happening with the many variations of the name. I went by a variety of nicknames, which I thought were all nice so I didn’t mind it. The only thing I really dislike about it is that there were always several girls in social circles and school with the same/similar name.
Pros- You love it!
Cons- Other people may not! It’s not a name I personally like, but what does that matter?
Pros: cute and pretty name, the meaning, nicknames (Isa, [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ellia[/name_f], etc), easily recognizable
Cons: misspelling (Isabel, Isobel) (but as someone who constantly has their name misspelled, I’m here to say that it’s really not that big of an issue, especially with such a popular name as Isabelle), also maybe it could get confused for [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] sometimes? possibly? I’m not sure, I’m grasping for straws in the cons department
I think [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is a very pretty name and will suit a new baby perfectly!
Pros: It’s very pretty, dainty, intelligent, and feminine sounding; also I think that adding two “l” s and an “e” makes a big difference.
Cons: It sounds similar to [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], which is extremely popular (at least where I live in [name_u]New[/name_u] York) for babies born in the late 2000s and early 2010s. However, I think [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is so much nicer than [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] somehow.
