Prouncing Anaiyah

How would you pronounce [name_f]Anaiyah[/name_f]?

[name_u]Baby[/name_u] girl is called [name_f]Anaiyah[/name_f] but people keep pronouncing it A-n-i-ya which im not fond of.
I like A-n-ay-a.

Should i change the spelling?
[name_u]Or[/name_u] change it to [name_f]Amaya[/name_f]? Pronouhced A-may-a
Her sister is [name_f]Avah[/name_f].

I would pronounce it as uh- NYE-uh!

[name_f]Do[/name_f] people read [name_f]Amaya[/name_f] and say it correctly? I wouldn’t want to have you change the name but possibly trying [name_f]Anaya[/name_f] might remedy the issue?

I’d say ah-nye-uh. [name_f]Amaya[/name_f] is ah-my-uh.

I’d go for [name_f]Anayah[/name_f] if you want ah-nay-uh.

[name_u]Welcome[/name_u] to Nameberry!

I’d pronounce [name_f]Anaiyah[/name_f] as uh-NY-uh and [name_f]Amaya[/name_f] as uh-MY-uh. [name_m]Even[/name_m] for [name_f]Anaya[/name_f], uh-NY-uh would be my first guess. For uh-NAY-uh, I’d go with Aneia (like Leia).

Honestly, I think this is just one of those names that is going to require pronunciation / spelling correction. People who know her well will get it right!

anaiyah is definitely uh-NYE-uh to me (middle syllable rhymes with eye), and i would also say amaya rhyming, like uh-MYE-uh. for the pronunciation you want, i’d probably go for anayah (which is ambiguous for me, but more likely to have that nay sound), or aneia (which is unambiguously uh-NAY-uh, but does have a slightly different vibe. if you really like the look of the y, maybe aneya, aneyah, or ameya? i would definitely say all of those the way you like. my favourite is still anayah though because i think it looks lovely, and it’s only a small adjustment from your first choice.

I’d assume it was uh-nye-uh!

I think Aneya or Anneia might be clearest for the pronunciation you want. [name_f]Anaya[/name_f] I would also assume was uh-nye-uh (and I would assume [name_f]Amaya[/name_f] was uh-mye-uh).

An-eye-uh would be my guess at first, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was an-ay-uh (ay like in say or hay). I’ve encountered both (slightly different spellings, but same name)

I think you’d still get a-my-uh (my as in myself) sometimes, but maybe less?

[name_f]Anaya[/name_f] might get you your pronunciation more often, or Aneya/Annaea/Anaea/Aneia maybe?

Thanks all.
I really feel like ive made a mess of her name, i really hoped it would read A-n-a-y-a.
Aneya - i dont like the meaning.
We idly like biblical names.
Any suggestions for any names to go with [name_f]Avah[/name_f]? She also has brothers.
Husband isnt keen on [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Anabella[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] or [name_f]Arabella[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] but niece is called that.
What are your honest opinions on my original name and pronoouncation?

Thanks

Uh-ny-yuh for me. But people are going to mispronounce most names, unfortunately.

I like ah-nay-uh but I agree with others my instinct would be ah-nye-uh.

I do like the suggestion of Aneia.

Some other biblical names you might consider… (caveat I dont know the stories associated with all these names, I just chose some I thought would aound nice with Avah)

Im going to stick with A names for right now:
Abana
Abiyyah
[name_u]Abilene[/name_u]
[name_f]Adalia[/name_f]
[name_u]Adinah[/name_u]
[name_u]Adria[/name_u]
Aharah
Ahiah
Ajalon
Anani
[name_f]Apollonia[/name_f]
[name_f]Arah[/name_f]
Aranda
[name_f]Asherah[/name_f]
[name_f]Atarah[/name_f]
[name_f]Athalia[/name_f]
[name_u]Aven[/name_u]

I would pronounce it a-ny-uh if I saw the name and didn’t hear it said out loud.

[name_f]My[/name_f] friends daughter has this name but with the spelling [name_f]Anaiah[/name_f] pronounced ah nye uh she never encounters any issues with her name either. I think this name is beautiful. Maybe the y is throwing people off have you thought of using [name_f]Anaiah[/name_f] or I’ve seen [name_f]Anaya[/name_f] all with your desired pronunciation. Honestly I think sometimes when it comes to naming children names that aren’t obvious they really do get butchered. [name_f]My[/name_f] daughter’s name is [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] her name is continuously mispronounced/confused for other names but all I do is subtly correct and move on. Try not to overthink and embrace her beautiful name.

Have decided to go with Aneah. Checked the pronouncation and its how i wanted it. I did like Aneia but google pronounced it as Aneeya.
Thanks all

i would pronounce [name_f]Anaiyah[/name_f] as uh-nye-uh
i would pronounce Aneah as uh-nee-uh (like [name_f]Leah[/name_f] lee-uh)

with all the vowels in the middle, I would pronounce it more like ah-ny-ee-ah

for ah-nay-ah, id probably go with [name_f]Anayah[/name_f] or [name_f]Anaya[/name_f]

[name_f]Amaya[/name_f] would be ah-my-ah

eta: I saw your update. Aneah is definitely ah-nee-ah to me, I don’t see how it could be ah-nay-ah personally. sorry!

It is confusing with all the vowels. [name_f]Avah[/name_f] is a simple spelling. I would probably choose another simple spelling for [name_f]Anaya[/name_f]. I do also like [name_f]Amaya[/name_f]. But [name_f]Anaya[/name_f] is sweet.

Yes on reflection i think the most sensible thing is to spell it as [name_f]Anaya[/name_f] - (i know some will still pronounce aniya) but its ok at leeast it will just be some.
Thank u all really appreciate your time

Also think that comment avout [name_f]Avah[/name_f] being a simple spelling (brothers are [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] and Noah) is also a highly valid one. I need to just keep it simple to flow!
