[name_m]Hi[/name_m] again! Still narrowing down our names for our eighth and last baby (girl) due early [name_u]August[/name_u]. The name [name_m]Pryor[/name_m] has special meaning for us, but I’m not looking for opinions on the name [name_m]Pryor[/name_m], just whether it’s too close to one of our other kids names: [name_u]Porter[/name_u]. I feel like it’s pretty similar, but my husband doesn’t think it’s an issue. Is it a deal breaker? Should we rule out [name_m]Pryor[/name_m] or is it not a big deal? Thanks!
I think it’s too close, sorry!
I think [name_m]Pryor[/name_m] could make a great middle name because it is so special to you, though I agree it might be too close for a first name. However, it depends on age difference too- I see you have eight kids, and if [name_u]Porter[/name_u] is one of the oldest and there is a big age gap, it might not be as big of an issue. Congrats on your upcoming baby!
I don’t think it’s too close! Especially because the kids are different sexes, and your little one will have seven other siblings around. You’re going to be mixing up their names anyways, as all parents do, so why not go for the name that is so special and lovely? It’s not as if it’s [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_u]Parker[/name_u], for example.
I think it’s very close to being too close. I’m not sure it really hits the “too close” button for me, but my hand is hovering over it. Most of her life she’ll be known as [name_m]Pryor[/name_m] Lastname, not [name_m]Pryor[/name_m], sister of [name_u]Porter[/name_u]. So it depends on your preference. I agree with a previous poster that if you’re nervous about it being too close you can use [name_m]Pryor[/name_m] as a middle name.
I tend to stay away from the same beginning letter and the same ending sound for siblings, so yes, I think it is much too close.
As others have said, you have seven other kids, so even though [name_u]Porter[/name_u] and [name_m]Pryor[/name_m] are very similar in sound, I think it’s okay since you have other children’s names to balance it out. If you only had the one, [name_u]Porter[/name_u], and wanted to name baby #2 [name_m]Pryor[/name_m], then it would be inadvisable. But I really do think it’s doable since you have the others.
I think it would be too close for me. It would be fine to have 2 P names, but the same start and ending sound is a little much for me.
I do not think [name_m]Pryor[/name_m] and [name_u]Porter[/name_u] are too close. I am on my 6th kid and for me personally I wouldn’t use it because I like all my kids to have their own first letter and I put their initials on their lunch boxes and things. I think it’s more important that u [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name on its own merit than how it flows w the sib set.
It’s close enought that I think I would use it as a middle name.
