Psychic Family

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I’ve really not got much to say about this one yet, but I’m trying to make something out of my blurb for Sometimes They [name_f]Whisper[/name_f] in the Title and Blurb Game. Ezra’s surname has changed to [name_u]Shade[/name_u] rather than Sowle because I was a little nervous it wouldn’t end up being pronounced the way I wanted it to be, even with context clues, but that doesn’t exactly change the fact that there’s way more people to this family than [name_u]Ezra[/name_u].

I need to name people from three generations in total, and while I probably will be able to keep the first two reasonably accurate to their ages, I don’t think I’ll be quite so good with the third. I mean, the story’s [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is around five years older than a cousin I have with the same name, and I… have no idea what [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] was like popularity wise at the same time. But I can’t change those names now, because they’ve already become [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and [name_u]Ezra[/name_u].

Typical.

So… I’ll fix this up with some more concrete details tomorrow, since I likely won’t have time to get them done now and I haven’t really worked them out yet, but here’s what I’m doing:

1st: Grandparents – the [name_u]Shade[/name_u] grandparents specifically, there’s going to be more than one set of grandparents but [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is highly unlikely to hear anything about those for anyone but [name_u]Ezra[/name_u]. These ones will be from around 1940s/1950s. I’ll likely only need to really worry about a grandfather and grandmother, but potentially a great-aunt or -uncle may end up in the picture. As I said, little is concrete.

2nd: Parents – definitely going to end up being more people. I think in total I’ll need three or four [name_u]Shade[/name_u] adults for this one, one of which is Ezra’s father, and then their respective partners. The Shades won’t all need to be men, but their children will all be known as [name_u]Shade[/name_u] regardless. These ones will be around 1970s/1980s, with Ezra’s mother being the youngest and pushing towards the 90s, though not quite being that young because that would make her about 15 when she has [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] at the oldest and that’s… I mean, it’s meant to be fairly icky, but not 15-year-old-mum icky. I’ll work out the balance of men and women for the Shades after. Either a 3-1 or an even 2-2. If it ends up being four, of course.

3rd: Children – this is the one I have the least obvious knowledge for. The oldest ones here will be around 18-19, the youngest likely no younger than ten, which assuming the story is set this year would mean 2004/5–2013. Although this might not be as explicit as I claim. [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] are both around 17, so Ezra’s one of the oldest of the group but not the oldest. There won’t be many older than him, likely just one. More will be younger, naturally, though there’ll be one or two roughly his age too. [name_u]Ezra[/name_u] himself is the only only-child of the group, thanks to, you know. Icky.

Which is probably why there’s ‘so many’ kids.

Anyway, I really need to go now so I’ll work out proper numbers tomorrow, and if I can settle on any names beforehand I’ll add them in and see if they work. If anyone has any suggestions based on the current information, great! If not, that’s fine, because honestly years and ‘there’s maybe this many of X’ is not incredibly helpful.

Alright. More information:

Parents: Realistically, choosing between three women and one man, two women and two men, and one woman and three men… doesn’t matter much. There’s still eight parents total. But that being said, I am going with three men and one woman. From oldest to youngest (as related to Ezra):

1: Uncle #1
2: Aunt
3: Father
4: Uncle #2

The partners for this group will probably fall in a similar order age-wise, though Ezra’s mother is still the youngest.

Children: This is a bit of a jumble, since every single child here will be labelled as ‘Cousin #X’, but regardless (ages may shift a little, but are roughly as follows – x/y is either ‘birthday falls during story’ or ‘not entirely decided’)…

Cousin #1 (age 18/19 – daughter of uncle #1)
Cousin #2 (age 17 – daughter of aunt)
[name_u]Ezra[/name_u] (age 16/17)
Cousin #3 (age 16/17 – son of uncle #2)
Cousin #4 (age 14 – son of uncle #1, fraternal twin of #5)
Cousin #5 (age 14 – daughter of uncle #1, fraternal twin of #4)
Cousin #6 (age 13 – daughter of aunt)
Cousin #7 (age 12 – son of aunt)
Cousin #8 (age 11 – son of uncle #2)
Cousin #9 (age 9/10 – daughter of uncle #1)

So… yeah. I really don’t understand naming based on personality or appearance, because usually it will ‘feel right’ once I’ve picked a name, though if that will help I’m happy to get back to people with that sort of information later on. Feels like this has been poorly planned, doesn’t it?
