If you have seen my other posts, we are considering the name [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. :)Apparently 6 babies were named [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] in my state last year. 434 in the whole U.S.! (In the 600s on popularity list). So it is not completely out there.
[name_f]My[/name_f] questions:
1.What would you think if you met a baby/toddler named [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]?
2. What would you envision a [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] to be like?
3. Would you enjoy having the name [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]?
4. What could be some nicknames for [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]? So far, I thought of Z, [name_m]Zel[/name_m], and Zelly. (I don’t like Zelly that much).
5. Is [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] a name that invites teasing?
While there is the connection with the video game, [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] herself is a courageous young woman who overcomes insurmountable evil. Kids might mention her name is from the game, but I don’t think they would tease her for it. The worst she would get would be, “Oh, [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]! Like [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] from the game!”
I personally would love to have the name [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. Meaning strong warrior, it is an empowering name!
Personally, I think [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is a very pretty name that holds a lot of charm and refinement. For nicknames, I’m not sure. Z is a cute choice, for sure. Best of luck!

I would think that baby/toddler was incredibly blessed to have parents who wanted to give their child a “strong, independent woman” name
-
I envision a [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] as unique, marching to the beat of her own drum!
-
I’d definitely enjoy having the name [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]! But it’s more about the attitude of the parent who would name their child [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]… If that makes sense? Like, I’ve always been the type who doesn’t want to conform, but felt like I needed to, to please my parents. I feel like I wasted many years not being myself. So I think, if my parents had been more open to my quirky, non-conforming personality, then I would have been happier (not that my childhood was bad, but I do look back and think “who is that person?” because it just doesn’t feel true to who I really am.

I like [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] on it’s own! It’s only 2 syllables. [name_f]My[/name_f] name is also 2 syllables and I’ve never had a nickname that stuck.

In a way, it does invite teasing, but hear me out. It’s not [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or [name_f]Emma[/name_f] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f] - safe names. Which means that, if a kid wants to tease/bully someone with a safe name, they’ll have to dig deeper for something to antagonize. Like their clothes or their hair or their freckles or their teeth or their height or their intelligence or their weight, and I could go on. Perhaps a kid will find the name weird, every now and then, and tease, but then they’ll drop it, unless they truly do not like your child or need to put someone else down in order to feel better about themselves. In which case, they will ALWAYS find something to tease/bully them about. So, name your kid what you want and, no matter what, teach your kid how to react to teasing/bullying in a healthy way and instill the kindness and confidence to not tease/bully others and stick up for those who are
Zelda is a fine name. Spunky, sweet, and strong.

I love this!
Aw! Yes, I would love to raise a daughter who is not afraid to be different.
Yeah I agree!
Our dog has had like 10 different nicknames just for fun, so I imagine we would do the same for our future kids! (Maybe only when they’re young)
I guess nicknames don’t have to correspond to the actual name.
- I’d be very happy to meet a little [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]!
- Adorable, although maybe slightly manipulative (not with ill intent, just very in tune with people & unknowingly uses that to her advantage) kid. Sultry & mysterious adult.
- Yes, although I don’t think it’s suit me
- Zella, although I don’t feel she needs a nickname.
- Pretty much all names invite teasing if someone wants to tease them. I personally think it’s great!

3- I love my name but I honestly would love if I we’re named [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]! Again love my name but if I were named [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] I wouldn’t hate it a single bit.
4- I don’t really think [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] needs a nickname cause it’s pretty short (also it’s just so pretty on it’s own!). Maybe [name_f]Zella[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elda[/name_f].
5- Not at all! The most they would get would be from [name_u]Legend[/name_u] of [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] but that’s not a bad connection. In reality people will make fun of anything if they really want to but this name doesn’t open any doors.
Overall it’s a gorgeous name that somebody can wear wonderfully over the years!
