Quinn?

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I are struggling with a baby name for a girl. We already have a girl, [name_u]Kendall[/name_u], so I’d like the name to flow with her name and so far we have [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], and [name_u]Harper[/name_u] as possibilities. Our last name is a one syllable last name, so we were talking about turning [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] into Quinley?
Any opinion on Quinley and calling her [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] or other name suggestions you may have?
We don’t want the name to be too common but also not completely uncommon if that makes any sense.
Thanks ahead of time!!

Quinley is a little silly to me (sorry!!). What about [name_u]Quincy[/name_u] or [name_f]Quinna[/name_f]?
I think [name_u]Kendall[/name_u] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] go together the best of your options, but [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_u]Harper[/name_u] are beautiful as well. Depending on what your last name is, [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] could possibly stand on its own.
Good luck!

Our last name is [name_u]Gray[/name_u], so we were just a little worried having a one syllable last name that we should have at least a 2-3 syllable first name for it to flow better

[name_f]My[/name_f] aunt’s family is named [name_u]Gray[/name_u] and, now that I think of it, dad and all the kids have one syllable names. It isn’t something I had ever noticed, so I wouldn’t let it worry you out of a name you love

Otherwise, [name_u]Kendall[/name_u] and [name_u]Harper[/name_u] do sound sweet together.

[name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] or [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] would be really pretty! [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] is a bit more choppy but I doubt I would notice unless it was pointed out. If [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is your top choice, I agree with pp that the flow needn’t stop you from using it. Overall, the way [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] looks written out is appealing. Like a heroine in an adventure story. Still not sure I could get completely on board with Quinley (it makes me think of [name_m]Quigley[/name_m] --> wiggly), but Quinley [name_u]Gray[/name_u] is a cute combination.

I actually like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u], it’s striking and there’s nothing wrong with a short name. Alternatively, there’s [name_m]Quinlan[/name_m] which is usually a last name but [name_m]Quinlan[/name_m] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] is rather pretty.

What about [name_f]Aquinnah[/name_f]?

I know an [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]! I love [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] but it doesn’t really work with your surname (Quinley just doesn’t work). You need two syllables. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is way too popular and with so many good names out there why not choose another. I think [name_u]Harper[/name_u] works. What about [name_f]Vita[/name_f]? [name_f]Lutie[/name_f]? [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]? [name_f]Nova[/name_f]? [name_f]Luna[/name_f]? [name_f]Orla[/name_f]?

I don’t see any problem with both names having one syllable. I would consider switching to another name if the name rhymed with the surname, but not for syllable reasons. Plus, if you’re so inclined, you can totally use a long, frilly middle name if you think her name is too short ([name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]?)

If you’re not content to use [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] by itself, I like the previous suggestion of [name_m]Quinlan[/name_m] better than Quinley. [name_m]Quinlan[/name_m] is a more clearly masculine name than [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], but it sounds more versatile and less cutesy to me than Quinley.

I really like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] - it’s one of the few unisex names that I truly like seeing on both boys and girls - and I think it goes well with [name_u]Kendall[/name_u]. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_u]Harper[/name_u] are also nice, although I wouldn’t use [name_f]Ava[/name_f] with [name_u]Gray[/name_u] - the long “a” sounds are repetitive. For what it’s worth, both [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_u]Harper[/name_u] are significantly more popular than [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and [name_u]Kendall[/name_u], for what it’s worth - on the SSA list, [name_f]Ava[/name_f] is #5, [name_u]Harper[/name_u] for girls is #16, [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] for girls is #118, and [name_u]Kendall[/name_u] for girls is #130.

I love the sound of [name_m]Quinlan[/name_m] [name_u]Gray[/name_u]. That’s a great suggestion!

[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] doesn’t sound bad at all. Short but strong. [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] goes great with [name_u]Kendall[/name_u]. I also really like [name_u]Harper[/name_u], just a little more than [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] because it is two syllables.
