[name_m]Just[/name_m] found out I’m having a little boy in [name_f]December[/name_f] ! Boys names have been tougher for me historically than girl ones… There’s some I love already, but I want more options to mull over. I’ll be a single parent, so the good part is, I’m the only person who has to approve of it
Q1: What first names would you suggest for the criteria “quirky but useable”?
Q2 (optional): WDYT of these names? [name_f]Do[/name_f] they seem to work for that criteria?
Q2-- I think [name_m]Caspar[/name_m], [name_m]Julius[/name_m], and [name_m]Lorcan[/name_m] are probably what I would pick for those criteria of your list. [name_m]Julius[/name_m] is a little less quirky than the other two but not super common either.
From your list, I think all names work! The two that do stand out a bit are [name_m]Julius[/name_m] (feels a bit more grand than just quirky) and [name_m]Odin[/name_m] (maybe a bit less usable than the rest, since it’s an out-there god name). I love [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m], [name_m]Fergus[/name_m] & [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] for your criteria!
Q2 I think these names all work for that criteria! [name_m]Caspar[/name_m], [name_m]Lorcan[/name_m], and [name_m]Odin[/name_m] are my personal favorites.
I think all of them fit quite well! [name_m]Julius[/name_m] and [name_m]Odin[/name_m] don’t quite have the quirky factor for me, but they’re all usable.
From your list I think [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m], [name_m]Caspar[/name_m], [name_m]Lorcan[/name_m], [name_m]Odin[/name_m] & [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] fits ‘quirky but usable’ well. [name_m]Odin[/name_m] & [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] being my favourite out of those.
Some names I think match your list - hope it helps. Sorry for any repeats
I think [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m], [name_m]Odin[/name_m], and [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] all fit that vibe really well! I view [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] and [name_m]Julius[/name_m] as a little more popular and trendy so it doesn’t give me quirky vibes.
Thank you for all the great suggestions! It’s a hard line to walk between going with an uncommon, less used name and having it feel wearable still, but I really want a sweet spot name for my son.
Some ideas piquing my interest:
[name_m]Hal[/name_m] - I like [name_m]Hal[/name_m] a lot as a nn; I’ve considered going with [name_m]Henry[/name_m] as a first name so he could be a [name_m]Hal[/name_m] or a [name_m]Hank[/name_m] (also love) but am wary of Henry’s popularity
Congratulations on baby! I remember loving your style when I was more active on here—he’s going to have a truly lovely name!
I think the names you listed definitely fit, I would maybe add [name_m]Amias[/name_m], [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m], [name_m]Urban[/name_m], [name_m]Theophilus[/name_m], maybe [name_m]Frey[/name_m], [name_m]Drake[/name_m], [name_m]Audric[/name_m], [name_m]Alaric[/name_m], [name_m]Mathis[/name_m], [name_m]Aurelius[/name_m]?
[name_f]Love[/name_f] love love [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] and [name_m]Lorcan[/name_m] especially from your list—they’re both on my top 5 as well! I’m quite fond of [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] as well—Barnabas is also on my list. [name_m]Odin[/name_m] and [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] are also lovely! [name_f]Love[/name_f] the nn [name_m]Rafe[/name_m] or [name_m]Rafa[/name_m].
[name_m]Julius[/name_m] doesn’t do much for me but I adore the nn [name_m]Jules[/name_m] for a boy.
Without reading your list yet, quirky but useable for me would look like:
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Dalziel[/name_m]
[name_m]Luken[/name_m]
[name_m]Loki[/name_m] (cautiously, I don’t watch a lot of TV so I won’t be a good judge here!)
[name_m]Marlin[/name_m]
[name_m]Nels[/name_m]
[name_m]Elouan[/name_m] (with an anglicised PN)
[name_m]Lonan[/name_m]
Now I’ve read them, yes to them all being on the easily wearable side of quirky! I particularly like [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m], [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] and [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]
A few ideas inspired by your list: [name_m]Fergal[/name_m], [name_m]Cornelius[/name_m] & [name_m]Obie[/name_m] (as a nn for [name_m]Oberon[/name_m] maybe).
