R Name

Don’t think I’ve seen anything about Randolph on nameberry.

How do people feel about it? Just curious, not naming a child.

I don’t love it, personally. I think it’s the ‘dolph’ sound that I don’t like the sound of (not a big fan of [name_m]Rudolph[/name_m] either). However, I adore the nickname [name_u]Randy[/name_u]!

Interesting. I thought it would be [name_u]Randy[/name_u] that would turn people off! I love the name [name_u]Randy[/name_u] for a girl (Miranda) because of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] Enright’s amazing children’s books, The Saturdays, etc.

[name_m]Randolph[/name_m] is just not my cup of tea. I have an Uncle [name_u]Randy[/name_u] and a cousin [name_u]Randi[/name_u] (his daughter) and…they’re not the best associations unfortunately. I like [name_m]Ralph[/name_m] better personally.

[name_m]Randolph[/name_m] isn’t my fave but it does have a cool kind of mythical vibe

I did a poll about Randy at some point and the results were mostly against it, so you’re generally right! And I do like Miranda ‘Randy’ (or Randi) for a girl a lot too!

There is an actor and activist who was born [name_u]Randy[/name_u]. When he first started out in acting, he changed his name to [name_m]Randolph[/name_m] (although I don’t know if he did legally). He made me love both names even if I can’t personally use them.

His full (stage) name: [name_m]Randolph[/name_m] Mantooth.

Interesting poll! nameberry used to say that people associate randy with over-sexed, but I bet the kids I teach don’t know that use of the word.
